The younger actors today seem to have to build their fame based on their social views because they don't have the natural charisma and personality to attract an audience the way the actors could 20-30 years ago.

It doesn't mean every movie made now is terrible, but it feels like Hollywood mostly runs on fumes.
I can’t disagree with any of your points. But if you think the movie industry is creatively bankrupt while pandering to the Left, the tv/sitcom industry is far worse.

Hollywood is the filthiest industry in the world. If you say anything wrong (that they don't agree with), you will be escorted off the set. I've had to whisper conversations, just in case.

Now MATH is racist: Educators condemn $1M 'Dismantling Racism in Mathematics' program funded by Bill Gates which tells teachers NOT to push students to find the correct answer because it promotes white supremacy

I only mentioned Brie winning an Oscar to speak to your claim of her being an "untalented hack." But, you're right, the awards are stupid, I agree. Sorry, but I still fail to see why she is an issue. I'm not familiar with her preachiness.

And I agree that Hollywood seems to be creatively bankrupt. I'm actually in agreement with many of your points.

I still fail to see, however, how this ties back to your original talking point of everyone in Hollywood being child-diddlers.

She can be pretty eye-rollingly preachy when it comes to “women” and “SJW” issues. I’m not a fan of her at all

None of this ties back to child sex abuse in Hollywood, though. It’s not nearly as big an issue as it is has been with the Catholic Church, if you want to draw a comparison. The space in between the two industries, when it comes to this, is embarrassingly vast. There’s no comparison to be made.

Hollywood also has strict labour laws for children under 16 and they have for quite sometime. Many children must have a parent/guardian on set at all times they are filming.

That’s not to say that disgusting, criminal predatory behaviour doesn’t exist. It does in every walk of life. Schools, churches, gymnasiums, etc.

But this idea that children are getting sexually abused left and right in Hollywood is bullshit. And certainly throwing dumbass claims like Tom Hanks possibly being a pedophile (and possibly a murderer) out there doesn’t help strengthen the argument.

Ah, I assumed she must've been preachy about social issues. I guess I can take pride in the fact that I was unaware of that.

I don't know anything about Snow "object that reflects all colors" and the Seven persons of Extraordinary ability. However I can pretty much assume that the seven people will consist of

2 whites. 1 African American. 1 Middle Eastern. 1 East Asian. 1 Indian and 1 First Nations or Native American. Maybe an Inuit.

The two whites will consist of one being from America or Canada. The other from Europe. A male will be present and he will be gay. There will be at least one trans among the seven as well. Possibly one transphoboe who will come around at the end with a story arc of being intolerant into acceptance.

Anybody evil in the movie will most definitely be of a pale complexion and will have blonde hair.

That said, its the way of Hollywood. Not going to change. They live in a bubble and they are catering this and other movies to the younger generation which obviously don't have an issue with it. This is the new way. Diversity is more important than the story. If Saving Private Ryan was made today, it would be about a platoon of transgenders who stormed the beach with stiletto heels and those pointing bras that made womens breastesses pointing back then.

Acting is the most overrated profession. Name one profession where an 8 year old can win the best of the best award.

It’s on IMDB as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. If they do change it to just Snow White, we’ll, that’s the name of the original Grimm tale (Schneewittchen).

Anyway, we’re at a point in time where there’s never been better moving pictures for our naked steaming eyes to look at across multiple platforms on broadcast TV, cable, and streaming. Yes, cinematic releases are mostly safe bets these days, but “creatively bankrupt” is pretty superficial.

I mean, one of the biggest shows of the last year was about a female chess player. (And I don’t care it was based on a book. That’s nothing new in Hollywood going back to Wizard of Oz.) We also have thad he Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Umbrella Academy, Ozark, The Expanse, Handmaid’s Tale, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, The Flight Attendant, Mare of Easttown, The Good Place, Lovecraft Country, Watchmen, Game of Thrones…I could go on for hours. All kinds of stuff not based upon an existing IP or a spin-off, and yet with Mandalorian and Star Trek: Discovery, amongst a whole lot of others, those are good, too!

There has never been more great filmmaking and show production than at any point in our lives. There has also never been more poor filmmaking and show production than at any point in our lifetime. I saw a few movies a year when i was a kid. You now have access to so much stuff that you couldn't possibly get to it.

Most movies now suck and I don't watch that many, but at least to me, there has never been a better variety of great TV shows to watch.

    Agreed.

To me it just makes sense that if you’re investing tons of money where the losses could be substantial, you’re going to go with things with a proven track record. Back in the day, it was movies, three channels, and little else.

Like, with all that competition a d money on the line, why make some other archaeological film when you have the rights to Indiana Jones? You’re not going to take a chance on Gerard Butler as Kentucky Buck when a film can cost $200 million to make.

I think the people today who, if they lived 40 years ago, would be writing films, are writing TV shows. If you’re about story and character development, it’s a lot more satisfying across 4 seasons and 50, 1-hr episodes than a 2.5 hour film. In other words, Ozark the show is much more engaging than would be Ozark the film.

And with way more than three channels to make those shows, there’s never been a better time to have your idea greenlighted. So lots of talented people who couldn’t get in the door in the past are having money thrown at them in 2021 by something called Peacock.

    It's, of course, all subjective.

I agree that there certainly is much more of a variety from which to choose. It kind of sucks to have to sift through so much to find something really good to watch. At least, that's my experience.

While I agree that the 'creatively bankrupt' description is a bit superficial, I was applying it more to Hollywood movies. Again, that's my experience lately.

    I don't think so.

When I say "younger" it sometimes is reletive to the 50 and up club.

Some of the highly promoted people like Larson and Michael B. Jordan aren't THAT MUCH younger than me.

They're still from the same generation as me.

    My generation just sucks.
