There is a lot of stuff in the Bible that is simply not true or accurate. Doesn't make me less of a Christian to say so.

It is flawed book written by flawed men, based upon their understanding of the universe thousands of years ago. But that doesn't make it any less relevant or important.

Genesis itself from an accuracy point of view is a load of nonsense. But, it paints a great story about how God has a plan for each and every one of us, and that there are consequences to not listening to Him.

Which shows more Faith? Believing that God has a plan for each and every one of us, if we would only listen to that "small inner voice", or that an all powerful being took six days to create the world, and then was so tired he needed to take the 7th day off?

The Creation story is just that, a story, meant to be a lesson about faith and trust in God, not to be taken literally as how the universe was created.

I’m also of the very unpopular belief that the Bible is simply just a fairytale. A fable created by men to explain existence and to give themselves hope. And I have no problem with that. I don’t have a problem with people who believe it either. I believe that there are some truths about some of the people in there, but it’s like a superhero story to me. It’s fantastical based on some reality. But I do believe in God. I have faith in that, but I don’t know why. I guess it makes me feel better to hope that he exists.

I also don’t believe that God punishes. We’re human. We are all flawed. We make our own mistakes. And I don’t believe in any creator who hurts people. And I don’t believe God does.

I don't like the thought that we are racing through time and space purely upon a great cosmic accident, that is part of why I believe. I also believe at points in my life I have felt God's presence, but that just might mean I am crazy. But as you said, it gives me comfort to think that we aren't just ants in an art farm, that there is more to this life. Without that small comfort, not sure I would be able to make it through the day if I am being honest.
