For me it was. I just threw them in the trash. I've never had a warrant issued for my arrest. I don't advise people to do that. I'm just not civic duty minded like that unless it's voting.

Nobody died for my right to sit on a jury.

Again, that's just MY personal view of it. I don't have time for or should I say won't make time for it.

I'm surprised. Like I said, I misheard the recording once and got a notice with a new date and that if I didn't go for any reason, I'd have a warrant issued.

That said, I will never, ever sit on a jury. No prosecutor is keeping me.

I have a sneaky suspicion no prosecutor is gonna want me either.

    Certain cases anyway.

The Federal Trade Commission said on Tuesday it had launched an inquiry into the ongoing shortage for infant formula in the United States.

"The inquiry seeks information about the nature and prevalence of any deceptive, fraudulent, or otherwise unfair business practices aimed at taking advantage of families during this shortage," the FTC said on its website.

I have seen the list of 10 questions they ask since I have had to sit there and watch dozens of people answer them.

One is if I promise to render a verdict in accordance with the law, and my answer would be no. Jury nullification is a form of civil disobedience and I would never vote to convict someone for a consensual crime with no victims. In other words, prostitution, both sides agreed and treated each other as consented? Not Guilty. Drug purchase or possession? Not Guilty.

The last one is "Is there anything else we should know?" Hoo, boy, is there...lol.

Meanwhile, we are seizing baby formula at the border and destroying it because it isn't FDA approved, and thus illegal--not because it isn't safe, but because it doesn't meet FDA labeling requirements.

Without notice, thousands of families were left scrambling to find more formula. Parents who tried to purchase directly from Europe had hundreds of dollars of formula seized by U.S. customs agents. One parent reported that she had nearly $700 of formula destroyed at the border—in the middle of a national formula shortage.

I don't understand why so many people don't want to serve on a jury. I've gone through the "call the night before" many times, always to be disappointed that the trial wasn't gonna happen. I finally got on a jury 4 or 5 years ago and it was a really cool experience. Lots of wasted time? Absolutely. Are real life lawyers extremely boring and nothing like lawyers on TV? Certainly. Same with the actual trial - pretty boring for the most part, but what an experience. I ended up being the jury foreman and we deliberated for about 6 hours on a pretty open and shut case. I'm sure some of the jurors where holding out for the free lunch before they made their mind up.

Anyway, it was cool and the defendant was "guilty as charged!" (Auto theft/joy ride situation.)

I forget now, but I think after you serve you get a free pass for 10 years.

Aside from having to miss out on work (and getting paid), Id love to get called for jury duty one day. I, too, would think it would be a pretty interesting/cool experience.

I guess that's probably the biggest complaint - how it disrupts your life/job. But for me, the experience outweighs the inconvenience. Plus, like I said, once you've served your free from it for several years.

99% of the conversations you hear though are people trying to get out of it.

If it would be for just a few days I would be open to it but simply afraid of getting involved in something longer. Knew a guy who had to do it for 4 months.

I always say I want the experience, just once, to serve on a jury. Then I get the summons in the mail and just don't want to be bothered. It's never a good time. lol I'll settle for the experience of being called in--I've never met with the lawyers to answer those questions--I've a feeling that they wouldn't want me due to my answers.

I have a co-worker who laughs at me because I don't do what he and CaboChris do--throw the summons in the trash.

From what I've been reading... I should have never responded to the first questionnaire notice back in March.

Getting the actual notice to appear now seems too serious to dismiss.
