It's true that conservatives in general went all in on the "back the blue". They have supported the drug war, and even defended cops where they clearly did wrong. It's a big problem. Law enforcement surely isn't above criticism, nor is it full of saints that are always trying to do the right thing.

That said, leftists and civil rights groups often turn an incident that gains national media traction into a clear cut case of police brutality if it involves law enforcement and non white males. It was especially true under Obama, and since then. Which is no doubt used to further their social-political agenda.

The DEA uses asset forfeiture to make a fortune. They have tipsters in all major modes of travel who tip them off to people traveling with lots of cash. They get stopped, the DEA meets with them, says they think it's for drugs, and they take it. Asset forfeiture allows authorities to take your property if they think it was used as part of a crime, with no charges or even an arrest necessary. They just take your cash and send you on your merry way.

The Patriot Act is mostly now utilized in drug cases. FISA is a joke. The age old comment, usually accompanied by a shoulder shrug, "Well, they must've done [i]something[/url] wrong," is the equivalent of closing your eyes, sticking your fingers in your ears, and screaming, "Lalalala!" No, a lot of these people are innocent and did nothing wrong. IF Gabbard is being followed, without more evidence, I will just assume it's like a long list of other innocent people being followed because these programs have long been out of control.
My memory tells me that the Patriot Act had bipartisan support in the earlier days after 9/11 and so on. Leftists I think I soured on it more quickly. I took conservatives far too long to start questioning it. These are even bigger issues when you're supposed to stand for smaller government and individual liberty. Conservatives need to stop being half assed about it.

Our wars, drug wars and the draconian laws have created way more problems than solutions.

That said, dems haven't been very good either. They have supported more military involvement in recent years, they embraced draconian lockdowns, wanted people censored and arrested for publicly questioning the vaccine just a few yesrs ago. They actively want to promote laws that favor some groups over others based on race and such. Of course dems are anti gunners by and large.

Leftists and Dems are no freedom fighters either.

I find that a little hard to believe, that is a helluva lot of resources for one woman who at worst maybe made a threat in casual conversation but really isn't a threat.
How the fuck does a canine team on board an aircraft go unnoticed?

    I never said they were.

For whatever reason, the left wants big government and lots of laws and then gets mad when someone is tasked with going out and enforcing them and is well-protected, even if done poorly, by both the union and government's deference to itself.

At the same time, conservatives (at least used to) preach small government, that the scariest words are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help," preach getting the government out of your life, they can't run anything, they don't have your best interest at heart, government must be held accountable at all levels, I could go on, but then the arm in charge of enforcement and authorized to use violence or kill you in getting you to comply, well, none of that applies to them (unless they're feds and go after our guys) and they should get more power and protection. It's never enough.

In this case, though, it's conservatives who refuse to acknowledge lots of innocent people get swept up in these law enforcement programs but only care now because it's their enemy doing it to someone they like. Had it been Jeff Flake, they wouldn't care and would probably joke about how they're not surprised he's been flagged.

I was mainly agreeing and basically adding to what you were saying.

As for Tulsi.... At surface level she is well spoken, moderately appealing and all of that. Just not sure I buy everything she tries to sell. I need more time to be convinced I guess.

For now. I could see her trying to make another run in the future though. Although, I think DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin will be the Republican favorites in 2028. We'll see I guess.
