It's a good track, not great but pretty good. It has that mid-tempo car-cruise feel that I sometimes likeB But if we're (sadly) nearing the end of all things CF, perhaps go out with a stronger track.

What about doing a two, three night "residence" in Tahoe each year. Release one new track before that so you can gain interest from the press and radio beforehand. I think one such fixed date, something like a summer birthday bash, would draw a regular crowd and not cause alot of organizational work, tour planning/expenses, etc.

(However seeing how long it took to finish the last 1% of Divine Temptation, which was "99% finished" for what seems like years, I don't really have high hopes for that.)

I like the new tune, I've played it to death because it's new chickenfoot, but releasing it on a "best of/live" compilation seems stupid for a band with only two albums, and all previously released live stuff. A 4-5 song EP would have been much better.

Would have really loved an EP. In January 2016, Joe mentioned that a new track was 99% finished. Only now do we get Divine Termination. Just think how long it would have taken for the band to complete four or even more tracks?

Sad - for us fans at least.

Wow this song is craptastic. Song just has zero groove and worst aspect of it is it is just uninteresting. Even Sam's vocal was not great which is odd because he is so good at awareness of where his voice can go in the studio. Sometimes songs don't make it to a record for a reason

Goodness gracious... it sounds like this song was written around the summer of 2015. From an interview with Sammy published on September 25, 2015:

    http://ultimateclassicrock.com/sammy...015-interview/

Happily, there is new music in the works from both groups, which Hagar is really excited about, including a new Chickenfoot song called “Before I Die.”

“What we decided to do [with Chickenfoot] is casually write a record the way we’re doing now. Like, Joe and I get together and get the song and then Chad put drums on one song already and Mikey put bass on it and we did the vocals. We’ve got one f—ing finished song that to me, is the coolest song that we’ve maybe ever had. It’s really bluesy and edgy and modern and it’s f—ing cool.”
"Before I Die" has to be "Divine Termination" because the chorus is "Long before I die, I'm going to find a way. Long before I die, I'm going to work it out."

So one song tracked over 16 months ago in 2015 gets a release now in 2017? And that's all they have to show for a "record"? This band is toast and it's simply disappointing because they had so much potential.

Still, it's one more song than Van Halen has released in five years!

The song is so "Meh," that I downloaded it the day it came out, listened to it a handful of times to form an opinion, and wasn't even motivated enough to come on here and talk about it. Isn't bad, isn't great. Completely forgettable.

Feel bad expressing these thoughts, because at least it is an attempt at creating and releasing original stuff. Just like a few of you mentioned, it's cool that they did this.

What could have been a truly great band.

If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I am not the biggest CF fan but its bad. I mean as bad as the smell Jake and Elwood Blues brought to Chez Paul. I mean yes its new and that is cool. Yes its cool that they found time to do something that Eddie can't. However its not a good piece of music. I have listened to it about 5 times to see if it would grow on me and its like Tofu.

Now for those of you excited about it that is really cool. Glad you are happy. Probably my least favorite CF song though. Typically the my least favorite songs have some cool stuff going on musically. Not this one.

I dig the bluesy vibe and the lyrics. Not the best and not the worst. Also one thing ppl never mention is production. Andy Johns did a fantastic job on the debut. The newer stuff doesn't sound as good.

The first record was started pre the end of the world in 2009. The music industry just like many were very different then. They had a much more budget to spend on production etc... I don't think the stuff since has been bad per se in production but the originally was exceptionally well produced and had a budget that simply is not available today.

Except, of course, if the combined assets of all band members is north of $200 million.

its one song. They could have ponied up 500k and asked a producer, engineer to make it sound stellar at their home studio. Sammy probably spends that money during his birthday week.
