I've been listening to MTM a lot lately, and I gotta say, it's Sammy's best solo album, bar none. I really haven't listened to it since it came out, but it's truly great. One of those albums that you can listen to from start to finish. I liked Ten 13, but Sammy should really listen to MTM a couple times before his next album.
"You gotta do me a favor and let these (people) have a good time, alright? A little bit of (vulgar term for breast) and their hands in the air ain't gonna hurt anybody" - Nikki Sixx
"Van Halen is 'Get the fuck off the sidewalk if ya don't like our drivin' kinda music!" - David Lee Roth
"We get to the hotel, there's people partyin' in the parking lot, people gettin' down in the elevator, wow! I swear to God I had this one chick, this chick was poundin' on my door, she was kickin' and screamin' at my door 'til about 6:30 this morning. Finally, I just said, 'Fuck it!' and let her out of my room!" - David Lee Roth

A Damn fine album, I agree.
I remember buying it the day it came out and listening to it 24/7....Thinking to myself at the time (Damn, I love this, but I wish this was the new VH album and not Sammy solo)

MTM is an awesome album. I also bought it the day it came out and listened to it non-stop for a while. Little White Lie, Both Sides Now, Leaving The Warmth Of The Womb, and The Yogi's So High (I'm Stoned) are great songs.

Argh... I wish Sammy's latest solo albums were available over here as well, and not just as imports.

I remember Sammy saying that MTM was an album he just "threw together" after the breakup, needing to be in the studio. As such, most of the people on there are either friends, family, or studio musicians.
Pretty damn solid album for something that he whipped together, if you ask me. Check the liner notes though and notice who is mentioned in the special thanks "Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Stuff: EXACTLY! Some would say Sammy doesn't have much class, but if you ask ME I thought it was mighty classy of him to thank Ed, Al and Mike for the wonderful years working together in Van Halen.

Didn't he have a lot of people making guest appearances on MTM? If I remember right he had everyone from Ronnie Montrose to Huey Lewis helping him out. I think it is his best album by far since he left VH. I'm sure all the extra talent in the studio offering ideas didn't hurt. Little white lies was a pretty solid radio supported song for quite some time, still hear it now and then. His other albums since seem more thrown together to me.

The song Leaving the Warmth of the Womb is a "Montrose Reunion" of sorts, as all the original Montrose members play on it.
Slash does guitar on one of the songs as well, and Sammy's son does background vocals on a number of tracks."Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

That's the original reason I bought MTM. I wasn't a VH fan yet, and I heard Huey Lewis was playing on the album. HUEY LEWIS FOR LIFE!!!!

Achievements:
I've got VOA, I Never Said Goodbye, Marching to Mars, Red Voodoo, and Ten13 and I think MTM is easily the best of those. Really solid songs from top to bottom, good variety and Sammy's voice is strong as usual.
To me, there's a huge difference in the level of Sammy's talent from before VH and after. Listening to VOA and all the other songs I've heard from before he was in Van Halen, I wouldn't have thought he was capable of material as strong as he's put out since he left VH.
That sounds like an insult, but I don't mean it that way, I swear.

I usually only listen to VH but lately I've heen listening to MTM alot. What a great cd. LWL smokes it's nothing like anything Sammy has ever put out. SOSH and Warmth of the Womb are 2 of the coolest tunes Sammy has ever done.
I don't know why but I've been really digging Who has the Right lately, lots of passion in Sammys voice on that song.
Overall I'd say it's the best CD to come out of anyone since the whole 96 fiasco.

Good call. I guess something good DID come out of that rigamole."You gotta do me a favor and let these (people) have a good time, alright? A little bit of (vulgar term for breast) and their hands in the air ain't gonna hurt anybody" - Nikki Sixx

I know what you mean, Glenn. The experience of being in Van Halen definitely pushed Sammy to become a better songwriter and musician.
Actually, that's part of the cool thing of having had him in the band. They got a singer, a songwriter, a lyricist, and a decent guitarist all in one bundle."Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Good album. I bought that one on a trip in the states (Grand Junction, CO...I'm not sure about that, though) back in '97 when I wasn't really in VH yet. Back then I thought that Sammy was VH's original singer because there was a sticker on BOV which said "2 new songs with DLR", so I thought that DLR was their new singer... ...
I like Kama and Who Has The Right the most. Those are great songs.
