Sammy doing "Unchained"

Heard he ripped through it pretty good. Any of you had a first hand listen? Iwould like to hear it.

When Sammy tried, the key word being tried, he could rip off the old stuff very well. It's ashame he avoided it like the plague. God knows he had the pipes to sing any of that stuff.

Yeah, I've heard it. I actually thought he did that song with more passion than he put into Jump, Panama or Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love.

Yeah, he did try. And it was better than all his other attempts at sing Dave tunes. Ed probably told him "Sam if you just fucking try to sing this, then it'll be the only time you have to."

I saw Sammy do "Unchained" once. He did a pretty good job. The crowd went nuts as soon as Eddie hit that first D chord.

I saw Sam do 'Unchained' and I was never impressed...I wish he would have put all his ability into the Roth songs...especially considering he sang so few of them after the 5150 tour...

I saw Sammy do "Unchained" at Jones Beach in New York in 1996. He was AWESOME! The song electrified the crowd and Sammy really brought it home.

The only time I heard Sammy do "Unchained" was at the second show of the American leg of the RHRN tour (outside Detroit, June 1993?). To be honest, I don't remember how he did. I was just so pumped that they were actually playing the song. I hadn't heard it live since the '84 tour.
Eddie ended his solo, then went into the opening riff. And I gotta tell ya'--I just about creamed my friggin' jeans right there!

Sure he can sing but with how much emotion? I mean I heard and I think everyone else the songs panama and jump and the emotion I thought was lackluster. He just didn't have that "on-fire" approach to it to bring the originals up to par. So to speak. It was like he was just walking through the motions just to get through those songs.

I personally hated Sam singing ANY CLASSIC Van Halen....It was a new era in Van Halen with Sam, a much more commercial team that we knew as Van Hagar...Don't get me wrong, they combined for some killer tunes, but only Dave could sing the CLASSIC material the way it should be heard LIVE...Sure the fans deserved to hear the old tunes during the Sammy era, but like I said, the only guy I prefer is the guy who originally sang the songs...DAVE...!!!
