I LOVE that solo!!! I think one of the reasons I like it so much is because of the base at the beginning of the solo. I think it helps the solo along, but not that it needed any help.
Lets Hope VH gets some Sensible Shoes that lead them back to Dave.

Agreed! Skyscraper has several blazing solos. I liked the solo to "Skyscraper" the best. As you mentioned, "Hot Dog and A Shake" is amazing, as well as the main solo and outro for "Stand Up." I thought Skyscraper had a very clean and modern sound. I also liked the tone of the bass on that album. I know Billy Sheehan only thought it was a "good" tone and he certainly wasn't crazy about how his bass playing was limited on that album..... Skyscraper is an underrated album, IMHO. It had better songs, but less "fire" than Eat 'em and Smile.
