It's better news than what we had before. I can't believe some thought CFIII had a lot of filler material. It didn't have any more filler than Balance or F.U.C.K.

I'd take VH filler over some bands these days.

I don't blame Elton one bit, for making new music. He's earned the right to relax and put forth albums. After all, he's only 68.

Dear God, thank you, at least there is a major artist in the world that gets it.

It doesn't need to be Hysteria with 136 tracks per song. Go into a room with professionals and knock it out.

You have a four or five piece band, doing a three or four minute rock song in 4/4, it ain't rocket science.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

    Good for Elton.

Outside of his husband, does he have family that might want his time in the later years of his life?

    He's got a kid.
Sammy's girls r now going to college i think, so I think Sam's an empty nester. It's not about family. To be honest, I think that VH recording only one album in 17 years (98-2015) has negatively influenced the whole lot of them. Sammy still looks hyperactive compared to VH, so he doesn't feel there's any need to step it up. When you think about 85-87, these guys were creating and pushing each other. VH knew dave was doing EEAS, Dave knew VH was rockin 5150, it lit a fire under their collective bottoms. Now it's the opposite, a competition to do less.

Good point. Same with Dave. Since '98 just DLRB and ADKOT. Not counting the covers album of course.

Kama may be college age, but I know the youngest isn't. He recently said he promised them they would do more together. Again, without knowing, I believe Kari probably said we need more time with you. Perhaps the recent deaths of his contemporaries has given him pause as well.

Still... looking forward to the new single. Just wish it had "love " in the title.

I'll take the one off song. I get it. They came to the realization that the market for buying their music just isn't that big anymore. They have the same draw whether they are individual solo acts or together splitting the pie.

Bummer that these guys have no clue in how to embrace technology today. They don't need to hole up in person in a studio for month and months while staying the Four Seasons until they finish.

Regardless, this never seemed like a band that would become any lasting legacy. Just seemed like a fun collaboration. Making anything more than that is a little over the top.

It's just that Sam has such a great guitar legend, at his disposal, that wants to play in a band with him. Original music from Satriani, to boot.

Instead, we get the cover band. C'est la vie.

One would think Satriani trumps Smith.

    Joe knows... technology.

You're right though. Enjoy what they did... because they did what they wanted to do when they did it.

Don't be all bitter when they don't do what we want them to do and they don't even want to do it unless everyone can do it.
