why does everybody seem to hate this song?
the only problem i have with this song is it isn't the most rocking tune but GARY gets to sing in his range.

I can't tell you why anyone dislikes the song. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I think it's a great song, although the middle part the goes from about 2.55 to 3.10 is kind of unnecessary. But after that, I love the way Gary sounds when he comes back in with "yeah Josephina".
It's very unusual lyrically for a rock song, in that it's written from a child to a Mother. Certainly not a topic that's likely to get most people revved up. Personally, having gone through a cancer scare with my own mother, I can relate to the song lyrically, and I think it's beautiful.
Every song doesn't need to be Mean Street or Unchained.

The reason I never liked that song was because it didn't get decent ti'll about 3/4ths through. That "Yah Josephina" part, ...

I think it's okay. Probably my least favorite song off of 3, but it has it's moments.
It's kind of like a hit or miss song, you know... Like the ones where you love the refrain but hate the verses.

I liked Josephina on the album and live. Although, I wish Ed didn't sing on it live.
His voice isn't the greatest and is usually spanked by the time they played it. Nice little tune.

The live version was pretty cool...just Eddie and Gary came out for the encore and they both just sat on the stage...Eddie with his acoustic...it was cool as hell.
Although the song was a little too "Queenish", it isn't as bad as most think. But like Glenn said, when you compare it too Mean Street and Unchained, well it pales

Didn't like it.
Just listened to it to be fair.
Still don't like it.
I think it would have been better as an instrumental (as would have most of the songs on 3).

I wasn't crazy about the album version. I liked it a lot better the way Ed and Gary did it "unplugged" on tour.

Loved it. It is the epitomy (spelling) of why I love this album. A vast departure from classic VH. Very new and fresh sound for the band. Like the perspective of the lyrics. I have fought through a health scare with my mother and now am dealing with my dad having lung cancer.

I think Josephina is alright, but nowhere near the best track on 3. I can't believe TWILY was dumped in favor of it, though.

Heres some trivia for ya
When I saw the III tour, it was in Launceston Tasmania - Tasmania is the smallest state of Australia - where I come from before I moved to the big smoke.. the new zealand shows, and the tassie show were all 'warmups for when they hit the mainland of australia, for the big citys and the big shows - we didnt get the full light rig etc, and they were still playing with the set list
Anyways.. They do joesephina - only the 1st or second time they performed it live.
Ed fucks the words up in the 1st verse
Stops playing
Says 'hey man I forgot the fucking words!' then cracks up totally.
Just a cool thing thought you might get a giggle outta

Cool story Goo.
Looks like Eddie needs to pay Dave some royalties on his stage speech.
