From the "Bored From The Wait" department:

I was listening to FUCK today, when I suddenly had a thought dawn on me.

Track 2, Judgement Day, states: "I'll put it off until Judgement Day."

On the VERY SAME RECORD, track 9 states: "Don't wanna wait till tomorrow, why put it off another day?"

    Kinda funny, isn't it?

Yeah, that's kind of weird. Also in Judgement Day he says "Sometimes I just wanna do nothin." Then in Right Now, he's telling us to do something.

Maybe Sammy knew that VH was gonna take forever to get us new music and Judgement Day was him giving us that message, and that line in Right Now was his message to VH to get their butts in gear.

That is a good point. I never picked that up. I must have listened to that album 1,000 times and never caught that.

I always thought that was strange! I just figured I was the only one who picked up on that. "Judgement Day" is about putting things off, and "Right Now" is about doing things now.

It's always amazing to me on how musicians come up their lyrics. For me, I write about experiences and observations of my daily life. I don't get too abstract. The knock on Sammy has always been about his cheesey lyrics but he does have some good ones.
"5150" and "Right Now" are 2 of my favorites.

Maybe the songs were written at different times..thus different thoughts and words would occur or they dont really care about the words and just concentrate on high quality musicianship, eddie, alex, mike,.

This is stupid. Thats why there is more than one song on an album. Different lyrics and riffs.

It is no surprise to me that there would be contradictory meanings in the lyrics - IMO all of the lyrics from OU812 to Balance are contrived and meaningless, totally lacking in conviction and substance (with the notable exception of "Humans Being").

I like knowing what inspired lyrics, but I don't like being told what they are supposed to mean. I like to hear lyrics and interpret them for myself.

I see nothing wrong with Sammy (or anyone) writing from various, and conflicting, angles. It's crazy to paint an artist into a corner and say that they should only sing from one point of view.

Didn't John Lennon used to always ask, "What does it mean to you?"
