Fine. I post always being pro and you're always critical. You like to point out hypocrisy and "my team" etc and I like to do the same to you. I already know that you're gonna say "I criticize both sides when it's warranted". I would say 70% critical of Republicans and 30% Dems.

No need to say "I was critical of Obama " Yada Yada. Just own it dude seriously. You have a bent just like everybody else does.

Maybe that should tell you something about today’s Republican Party, when the classical liberals/traditional libertarians who traditionally aligned much more closely with the right over the left now find a lot more to criticize in a post-Trump GOP.

I have never, ever claimed to not have a bias, and it should be pretty common knowledge after talking over and over again for 14 years now in these threads about being a small-l libertarian who has voted for the Libertarian candidates for POTUS since 2008 because I agree with 95% of what they say.

In fact, I’ve even said multiple times in the last 6 years that I’m more critical of the GOP these days precisely because of their shift away from things we agreed upon that made them different from the left. And then there is how that term ended. Sorry, but attempting to cancel democracy is just more fundamental than any policy dispute I have with the left. It just objectively is.

So I agree with your critique! I own it! (Except that I’ve never claimed to criticize 50/50.)

That doesn’t change the fact that MAGA-praise can be forward thinking when you all do it, but MAGA-criticism is “living in the past” when non Trump supporters do it.

I know you all don’t think of it this way, but to me, the most important aspect of MAGA is that it is a dividing line between believing in Democracy and not.

Where one stands on democracy is way more important than deficits, school funding, inflation, you name it.

MAGA, to me, is thinking it’s a bad thing that Pence didn’t attempt to throw out the votes and keep Trump in charge. That’s what it represents to me. Trump still believes Pence acted wrongly and so, above all else, the de facto leader of the GOP, the likely next nominee, doesn’t believe in democracy.

So make no mistake. When Trump disciples in government decide to punish free speech or advocate a whole lot of illiberal policies, I can’t not see it through that prism.

So hell yeah Im going to criticize more often the side that no longer believes in free elections. Because that’s closer to making America a colony again than it is to making it great again.
