Trump was wrong but he didn't force those people to commit the actions they did on the capital on 1/6. They were just words. So impeaching him is only being used as a weapon by the Dems so he doesn't run for POTUS ever again. I really hope he doesn't run again after 1/6 but he should be allowed to run for POTUS in 2024 if he wants it's a free country. The Dems though want to stop him from doing so. It's sad what happened but those people should be held responsible for their own actions. It's like people that listen to music and go and commit criminal acts, it's a form of expression. Trump got so caught up with all his crap he's eating his words now but it's a free country. Impeaching him for words is nonsense and if it actually goes through it's going to further divide the country. he got banned from Twitter, Facebook. Let him eat his own words but again it boils down to those people that stormed the capital on 1/6, no one forced them to. Trump has to live with it now, let him live with it. Anyone with a heart would feel like a total douche.

Except for the fact that the entire reason they stormed was due to a lie that Trump crafted over a series of months, that the Democrats were going to steal the election and then that they stole it.

He got them to believe a lie, got them riled up, had them gather next to where they were certifying the election, got members of Congress to go through with the charade to make it look even more real. Then as they gathered, he told them to go fight and show strength, to march on the Capitol and "stop the steal."

Like, yeah, the people who actually killed Sharon Tate are responsible. But that doesn't mean we let Charles Manson go free.

And before anyone goes, "Trump isn't Manson, what a ridiculous comparison," I am not comparing them to each other, but that crafting a lie over a long period of time and then telling people, "Go do this" is something we also hold people accountable for.

In this case, it's borderline calling for imminent lawless action so it probably wouldn't be prosecuted, but it is certainly enough to count as a high crime and misdemeanor.

Donald Trump will continue to receive the blame for everything from Covid to global warming. He will be the scapegoat for any and all failures of the current POTUS and his administration. Business as usual in D.C.

The guy invented a conspiracy theory about the election, abused the power of his office to try get election results overturned for personal gain, tried to use the DOJ to overturn election results for personal gain, and then sent his devoted followers to the Capitol fight and stop the steal, which incited an insurrection, and then while his followers were trying to murder the Vice President, he attacked Pence on Twitter, and then told all those people he loved them.

Why on Earth should we just let that go? The Republicans wouldn't let perjury go, but the above, no problem. A year ago Gaetz was saying you could impeach a former President, meaning Obama. The Republicans won't let that idea go, but this, we should just move past. What a disgrace that party has become.
