I think that is one of the reasons it hasn't happened, we would have a low scale civil war on our hands. I also think Trump knows it and uses that to his advantage, he is a lot of things, but one thing that can't be argued is that he is politically savvy.

If I was the DOJ, I would tell him this: "we have you dead to rights on violations of the Espionage Act and other crimes when it comes to classified material. We don't want to put an ex-POTUS in jail, it's a bad look. So here's the deal. Go away. We mean it. Go away. No more running for office, no commenting on politics. Run your hotels, run your golf course, fuck porn stars, play golf, enjoy your sunset years. Do that, and we will let these indictments just sit in a envelope. Otherwise, you are going to be spending the remainder of your time on this Earth in federal custody. Your choice big guy, what is it?"

All of them Trump, Biden and Hilary should be in jail. Ideally you cut a backroom deal and the 3 elderlies go away. But ego is a powerful drug. A good first step would be Biden announcing he is not gonna run. Handling of national security needs to be area above team shit but is not. That is a huge issue for everyone

Hillary should be in prison, so should Trump, Biden, Rice, Brewer, Powell, Pence, all of them should have spent time in prison.

You guys do realize that six out of the seven judges on the Arizona Supreme Court is a registered Republican appointed by a Republican Governor, and they have voted down Kari Lake's legal challenges to the election results at every turn. The other justice is a Libertarian appointed by a Republican Governor.

Maybe it is the quality of her argument (and lack thereof) and not that there is a vast left wing conspiracy.

I'm surprised that you've reasoned it thusly: Lake's opponent was in charge of the voting process, a conflict of interest. Voting machines across Republican districts malfunctioned. Whether intentional, or coincidental, this is a fact. What exacerbates these incidences, is that the race was extremely close.

Does this suggest malfeasance? Not necessarily, but to most people, it would give them a reason to pause and take note.

That the judges are registered Republicans, what does this mean? Is there no dissension within Party lines?

For example, I can't stand Al Gore. I think he is a hypocrite and a carpetbagger of the highest order, not to mention in many instances a stone cold liar.

That being said, he has a legitimate argument that he should have been the 43rd POTUS, not GW. But, after it played out in the courts and the courts ruled against him, he took it like a fucking man and actually certified the fucking election he thought he won as the sitting Vice President. You have to applaud that.

Much agreed, and for the record, I believe that Al Gore won in 2000.

I could only have wished that Mr Trump had exited the race as Mr Gore had done.

I believe that pre-dispositions exist, even among judges, and that for a Republican candidate to take evidence of voter fraud to a 7 person Supreme Court comprised of six Republicans and 1 Libertarian and lose means that she didn't have a valid argument, that they would be pre-dispositioned to give her as much leeway as possible in presenting her evidence.

Maybe there was fraud, who knows, but if a Republican candidate can't get a Republican Supreme Court to agree with the evidence, to me that means she doesn't have any.

Arizona Republicans pick former Trump aide Jeff DeWit to lead state party in landslide vote

Phoenix — Arizona Republicans on Saturday selected former state treasurer and Donald Trump aide Jeff DeWit to be the party's next chairman, turning to a familiar face with relationships across the fractured party after its worst election in decades.

DeWit replaces firebrand Trump ally Kelli Ward, who helped the former president in his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss and was a vocal proponent of his false claim that the election results were fraudulent. She broke with precedent in last year's primary, openly promoting a slate of election deniers who went on to lose the general election in November.

"I'm going to work for you and we're going to unify," DeWit said after winning. "And we're going to get back to beating Democrats and winning elections."

DeWit was supported by Kari Lake, who lost the race for governor but became a rock star on the right; Mark Finchem, the defeated candidate for secretary of state; and retired Gen. Michael Flynn. Lake said shortly before the vote that Trump made a last-minute endorsement of DeWit as well, though the former president didn't say anything on his social media accounts.

He won with 70% of the votes over several other nominees, including Steve Daniels, who was the choice of some of the party's most ardent advocates of blowing up the election system. After helping to lead protests against face masks and critical race theory, Daniels founded the Arizona Patriot Party and wants all voting to take place in person on one day, with ballots counted by hand.


During Ward's four-year tenure, the GOP lost three Senate races and the state's three top offices — governor, secretary of state and attorney general. In recent weeks she's faced criticism over the party's spending, including an expensive election night bash in November that Republicans hoped would be a victory celebration before GOP candidates fell short.

DeWit was elected state treasurer in 2014 and resigned in 2018, shortly before his term ended, when he was confirmed as chief financial officer of NASA under Trump. He led Trump's Arizona campaign in 2016 and was chief operating officer of Trump's 2020 campaign.

Meanwhile, Arizona Democrats elected Yolanda Bejarano, a senior national official in the Communications Workers of America union, to be their party chair following the first contested election for Democratic chair in 12 years. Bejarano was backed by most of the state's elected Democrats, but newly elected Gov. Katie Hobbs supported Steve Gallardo, the only Democrat on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

Outgoing Democratic Chair Raquel Teran declined to run for another term, saying she wants to focus on her role as the state Senate minority leader. She said Friday she's looking at running for the safely Democratic U.S. House seat being vacated by Ruben Gallego, who's running for the Senate.

The 2024 election includes several races with national implications. Arizona is likely to be a battleground in the presidential race, and independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's seat is also on the ballot. Sinema, a former Democrat who alienated much of the party, has not said whether she'll seek a second term, setting up the possibility of a rare three-way contest.
