Questions Arise Over Would-Be Trump Assassin’s Shady Connections in Iran

Ryan Wesley Routh, the 58-year-old man who is suspected of an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, had connections in Iran that are leading some security experts to question if there was Iranian involvement.

A New York Times reporter who had interviewed Routh last year wrote on Sunday that Routh was working to recruit former Afghan special operations soldiers who had fled to Iran to go fight in Ukraine.

The reporter, Thomas Gibbons-Neff, wrote that when he was writing an article on volunteer fighters in Ukraine last year, his former Afghan colleague and friend Najim Rahim had put him in touch with Routh, who he had learned about from a source of his in Iran, a former Afghan special operations soldier.


Mike Benz, a cybersecurity expert and former State Department official, argued in an interview that Routh may have been part of an alleged Iranian plot to kill Trump that involved Iran and Pakistan.

He said Tuesday in an interview on the Real America’s Voice’s War Room that Routh “sounds like exactly the operation the CIA described a month ago.” Benz said:

”It was only one month ago, about like five weeks ago, we were told that the CIA had foiled an attempted assassination plot against Donald Trump by a Pakistani national with ties to Iran, who was plotting a murder for hire operation to have somebody in the United States shoot Donald Trump.”

Again when the Democratic nominee past or present has 2 assassination attempts well then we can talk about "well what about?"

In the past 8 years I can recall the following attacks on Democratic or liberal politicians. Pelosi's husband and Whitner potential kidnapping which ended up being an FBI entrapment plot.

On the other side, we have two assassination attempts on Trump. A GOP congressman shot up at a softball..Scalia? Rand Paul tackled with numerous broken bones (oh and accosted in public by protesters outside the GOP Conference in 2020) and an assassination attempt on a Supreme. While not an elected official. he is conservative and was targeted due to his position on Roe vs Wade. Obviously going by memory of high profile issues. I am sure some links and all that are coming to show how erroneous I am with the position that Harris or Biden were shot at twice.


Again for the 1000th time. this place reeks of absolutes. There can be differences with rhetoric and potential threats. Variance is allowed. Just because GOP says this and Democrats say this., doesn't mean its equal. If we are talking about 1's and 0's with any mention generating a 1, like digital, sure. Its not. If you think the rhetoric that is being propagated is equal in intensity and action, well I can't help you there.

My son finished writing a theatrical script for a stage play in May of this year. It's a political satire and the main character gets shot in the ear. After the attempt on Trump in July my son and I were talking about the script and I asked if he had thought about revising the play due to recent news. He said it crossed his mind. He asked my thoughts. I quietly contemplated for a beat, turned to him and said, "fuck 'em".

As the late great Jimmy Buffett once said, "Tragedies very often become comedies, and they better become comedies real fast or you're in a lot of trouble."

An assassination, no matter when or how inept the follow through is, is not funny.

Especially when it’s starting to trickle out that he very well could have been working on behalf of a terroristic country that wants us all dead. Not to mention the Jewish race.

Not everything has to be whatboutism. It is being used to often as a deflection tactic.

That said, I do question the sincerity of JD Vance. I don't like the guy, and I don't think the JD we see right now is the real him. I just can't shake that feeling. I think Tulsi is more sincere than he is.

Yeah, most everyone in Washington is an opportunist, but some more so than others.

While I think there is probably some truth to illegals eating pets, it's probably not am epidemic, and it's not the real reason illegals shouldn't be here. But Vance it appears said that "it doesn't even mattercif it is true or not because it still draws attention to illegal immigration."

I fucking hate that sort of thing. That type of argument is right out of the lefts playbook I've heard that logic from them plenty of times.

People are already being made aware of illegal immigration without you yapping about dogs and geese being eating. He is a very disingenuous, and that's part of the problem with politics and political discourse. Sadly, it's pretty much baked in all this point

For the record, I wasn't engaging in "whataboutism." I was merely offering an observation to Coulda in relation to his question to '86.

But I do agree with you about Vance. As I've said, both VP picks were not great, IMO. But Vance is proving to be a great boot-licker of Trump's so he'll do fine in that role.

Report: Police Find Explosives in Car Near Trump’s Long Island Rally

Police found explosives in car on Long Island on Wednesday near former President Donald Trump’s rally scheduled for Wednesday evening, according to a report.

One America News Network journalist James Lalino posted on X:

Sources in the Nassau County Police Department just told me that “the perimeter was breached and a blue barrel was removed” from the area surrounding tonight’s Trump rally site.

Source said “During K9, doing their checks, they found an explosive device in one of the vehicles and that driver ended up running into the woods. No one saw if he had anything on him, they just saw him take off running. A lot of cars are now parking, they’re lining up on Hempstead Turnpike, just parking on the grass. Even over at Eisenhower Park, they’re just parking over there.”

Trump is scheduled to hold a rally at 7 PM.

On Sunday, authorities apprehended Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, for allegedly attempting to assassinate Trump while he enjoyed a round of golf in South Florida.

Routh appeared to be a Trump supporter in 2016 but turned against him by 2020. “Make Americans slaves again,” he posted earlier in 2024. Routh reportedly placed a Biden-Harris bumper sticker on a truck outside his home in Hawaii and donated to Democrats’ fundraising machine.

Agree with this. There are literally songs where he's saying he's a 'never Trump guy' - now Trump can do no wrong. There is (of course) nothing wrong with changing/modifying your perspective on a situation...but man, this guy has done more about faces than the clapping bear at a carnival shooting game. That really gives a credibility problem.

And yes, in advance of the 'whataboutism' - Kamala has done many about faces in this race.
