Oh and unemployment is also done on line and requires ID verification. The IRS has all the capability to verify a persons identity to vote, it’s just a leap to far for us.
The truth is there has been something shady in every election going back as far as Kennedy and probably farther back than that
Kennedy had 300,000 dead people vote in cook county
LBJ had inside notes an reports
We know about Nixon and Watergate
Reagan was hand delivered Carters notes from the debate and destroyed him in that debate
    We had the Clintons
    Bush Gore and Florida
And whether or not you believe Trump was involved, we know Russia was and is at it again and China now too

Personally I think remote voting can be done, but not this year and it would take an investment and if done right could be the most accurate, but since it takes the Gov to set it up, I doubt it would be done right

Even as a dem, I am in favor of voter identification, the funny thing is, I actually think mail in voting greatly helps Republicans this year. The Elderly are the most vulnerable and are likely to stay home to stay safe and the traditionally vote Republican
And then there are places that still use out-of-date, easily hackable voting machines.

Hopefully many people will feel comfortable enough to go to their designated places and vote in person. And there will, no doubt, be some that feel more comfortable mailing in their vote. Again, I don't think it will be as widespread a problem as the fear-mongers will have you believe, but fraud certainly won't be non-existent.

Largest Florida police union backs President Trump: 'Tired of being a punching bag'

The Florida PBA voted 'unanimously' in support of the endorsement

    Joshua Nelson 1 day ago

The president of the largest police union in Florida appeared on “Fox & Friends” Friday to explain why the organization is supporting President Trump.

“We’re 30,000 strong. We go from the panhandle to Daytona, to Tampa down to Miami and the Keys,” said the president of the Florida Police Benevolent Association, John Kazanjian.

Kazanjian explained that the decision to endorse Trump started with his move last week to call for an “emergency meeting via conference phone” with all of the chapter and charter presidents and board of directors.

“I spelled it out on what’s going on not just in Florida but across this country that, ‘Hey, you know what, we’re getting beat up. We’re getting used like a punching bag and we’re tired of it and President Donald Trump has been there for us. He supported us.’”

Kazanjian comments came after a Florida county-level union rescinded its endorsement of a Democratic candidate for the state legislature, in the wake of public statements in which he called for police to be demilitarized and questioned the need for patrol officers to drive unmarked cars, Fox News has learned.

The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association, which boasts approximately 5,000 members, endorsed former prosecutor-turned-criminal attorney Michael Weinstein in his bid for a state House seat at the beginning of July.

But after Weinstein completed a questionnaire with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, which was published on June 26, the union changed its mind, Kazanjian told Fox News.

“When Michael Weinstein came to the Palm Beach County PBA seeking our endorsement, he expressed to us that he supported and respected the police and law enforcement in general,” Kazanjian said in a statement. “He never expressed the view that the police are militarized, that unmarked police cars caused distrust, or called for more civilian review boards, all of which he later said to the Sun-Sentinel to perhaps win their endorsement. Had we known he supported these drastic changes to policing, which we strongly oppose, we would have never endorsed him.”

Kazanjian said that after he voiced the idea of supporting Trump, his colleagues supported it “unanimously” in a vote. Kazanjian said that the vote "carried a lot of weight."

“I got a motion to endorse President Donald Trump for this 2020 presidential election,” he said.

Kazanjian went on to say, "Not only the 30,000 votes that we had from the members in Florida. Don't forget about our friends and families, retirees .. I believe the last cycle, we also put the president on top and guess what? We're going to come out in force this time to put the president on top."

Kazanjian said that he will be meeting with Trump to hand him the endorsement letter later on Friday at the White House.

    "I'm proud to do it."

Democrats losing major union support should serve as a hint that they've gone a tad crazy.

This country is not ready for nationwide mail-in voting. People compare the US to other countries, but you can't do that. If you want to compare, you have to equate it to all of Europe voting for one election. The US is essentially 50 countries in a union, each individually governed. There's no way you're getting everyone in the same boat by November.

You might be right that the US is not ready and will not be ready for mass mail-in votes by November. But it was also never pursued as there were always claims of fraud by some political group, so people kept away from it mostly. At least that's the feeling I get.

Your statement about voting in other countries, for example Europe is not completely true. 27 independent countries in the European Union - we are talking about 27 countries with independent constitutions, languages, voting laws, etc. - came together to vote for a European parliament. the EU has a population of over 500 million. The US are 50 different states, but with the same fundamental laws and principles, and have 330 million.

Facts don’t care about your feelings.

In 2005 we formed the Commission on Federal Election Reform which had former President Jimmy Carter, Former President Gerald Ford, and former Secretary Of State James Baker. They found that “absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.”

So this country has studied “vote by mail” and it is common sense that massive fraud would occur if the entire nation participated in it.

It would be interesting to research the reasons they gave or any suggestions they made for organizational changes that would help implement a safe way of voting. Have to read up on that when I have time.

Living here in Europe for quite some time, I have simply noticed that it can work, and has been working for decades. Not talking about 100% mail-in, that is fairly new and only done regionally so far, not nationally. So why shouldn't it work in the States...?

Yes, I do understand the US Federal system. Cultural differences between the 50 states and between the different European countries are quite different.
As said a few minutes back, mail-in voting is normal, for example, in Germany. Not 100%, but a third of voters or average. Guess it is just organized differently over here.
