You're assuming the Dems will regain the House or Senate...or Yikes, both! That's a tall order. From the looks of it, they're going to double down on their platform. They'll try and appear to be moderate, though. Republicans have an awesome ground game now. Musk will spend money in the mid-terms. Bet on it.

Not much good will happen either way because there are still too many corrupt people in there.

Democrats will more than likely take control of the House in 2026, but the Senate as of today would look to be impossible for them to gain control, best they can hope for is a 51-49 Republican majority, with it being more likely than not that the Republicans make gains in the Senate in 2026.

Honestly, obstruction is the key word no matter if Republicans keep a slim majority or the Dems get the house. The final two years will largely go the same. Which means it will be gridlock, followed by another bs "election".

Western civilization is in trouble. About 40% of the world's population lives under authoritarian rule, and with India trending the wrong way, it might get a lot worse.

Im not a tin-foil adherent but I don't accept the "truth" at face value, either.
Generally speaking, it appears to me that conspiracy theorists often like to be contradictory just for the sake of being contradictory. And they also don't seem to need any truth or evidence to support their claims (election deniers, for example).

When Covid first started spreading and we heard it was a wet market, I assumed that's what it was. Then I heard there was a Virology lab in Wuhan as well. Then I started to have my doubts. Unfortunately, this is in China so what truth are we ever going to get? We were up against it from the beginning in terms of getting actual true information.

I don't buy hook, line and sinker what I'm told. But, let's be honest, we have to have some trust somewhere. I'm not going to put all my trust in DJT--after all, he's been very prone to be full of shit. So it's difficult to trust him. And, yes, same goes for the media. Many people will simply believe whatever media outlet tells them what they want to hear. That's why FoxNews is so popular and their viewers are so loyal. Almost $800 million settlement because they were putting out disinformation, and they still have their loyal viewers.

The deep state, I think, has become a catchy label.

Perfect example of what you called believing what you’re told.

That certainly was not why FOX had to settle. In fact when they did it was discussed here and I was one of the many confused that they did settle. They just didn’t want to fight it. Presenting someone who has an opinion that goes against the established/official line is not spreading disinformation.

Newsmax, a much smaller company, stood their ground and a settlement was reached. These incidents were seized as a way to chill further criticism in this country. In other words, free speech.

Fox News forever hated on for being popular. For being trusted. For dominating cable news for well over 25 years. When it's attacked, the people who tune in are attacked as sheep.

    It's bullshit

    Again everything is in context.

Whether or not the virus was wet market or in a lab SHOULD be open to discussion and investigation. I understand it occurred in China and information is more difficult to obtain then lets say Germany. However lets not kid ourselves. We have intelligence officers in every part of the world. Our FBI, CIA, NSA and CDC all knew that the first document case was within a hundred or so yards from the lab. There was a lab creating the virus. Ok its a possibility then right? Nope. The FBI, DOJ and pressed on social media to censor discussion of this. That's not right. Especially when we found out that insiders believed it was a lab leak from the get go. Yet they lied and then forced media to cover up said lie.

Then the vaccine. Most reasonable people knew that it was not going to prevent you from catching it. However Fauci, Biden, etc the media claimed it would protect you from catching it. 70% of Democrats wanted to put people in camps if they didn't get it. Discussion of the possible health side effects were shut down as lies. Again no discussion. We were lied to. Then the kicker was that Biden tried to fire people if they didn't get it. All for a vaccine that likely 90% of people on this board have not gotten a booster for at least a year or two. There are side effects and yes people died. Not millions but a good amount of people had serious issues. Friend of mine still isn't right from it. Not saying that you ban the vaccine but there is a variance between believing 100% or denial. Discussion of it though was banned.

We were told Hunters laptop was conspiracy theory. 54 of our finest inteligence officers claimed it likely was a Russian hoax. Find out they knew full well it was real yet they lied to influence an election. DOJ and FIB then worked with social media to shut down discussion of said laptop. That's not right.

We were told that Biden was fit as fiddle. In fact weeks before the debate we were told everyhing negative was a deep fake. DPJ claimed it so. So did the media outlets for the DNC. Biden was the sharpest person in the room. Right wing conspiracy. Then the debate happened. We know the rest

FOX fucked up. That's for sure. However compared to everything else? Shit it doesn't come close

Sen. Cornyn says Kash Patel will be confirmed as FBI chief

Pete Hegseth Shoring up Support from Key Republican Senators as Smear Campaign Falters

Trump Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth is shoring up support from key Republican senators as a concerted smear campaign against him based on years-old allegations from anonymous sources has been disputed by many on-the-record.

On Wednesday, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), the incoming Senate Majority Leader, voiced support for Hegseth, according to a Washington Examiner journalist.

“I think he articulates a good vision, a strong vision for the Department of Defense, which I think is in need of some modernization and reform,” he said. “He’s obviously an experienced veteran, combat veteran, so he brings a lot of experience about what the warfighters’ needs are and how to keep America ready for the potential battles of the future.”

Similarly, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-LA), who will helm the committee responsible for forwarding his nomination to the full Senate, also expressed support for him on Wednesday.

Wicker told an NBC News reporter, “I don’t see any obstacles that can’t be overcome,” and that Hegseth should not withdraw his nomination.

In addition, senators who previously signaled doubts about him changed their tune on Wednesday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who called the anonymous allegations against Hegseth “disturbing” on Tuesday — sparking speculation he would soon be replaced, said on Wednesday:

I am not going to make ANY decision based on an anonymous source. If you’re not willing to raise your hand under oath… it doesn’t count.

In the past 48 hours, dozens of former coworkers, friends, and supporters who know Hegseth personally have come out on-the-record to dispute the anonymously-sourced allegations against him, calling them complete fabrications and flat-out lies.

In addition, evidence has emerged to back up his defenders’ claims. A New Yorker hit piece claimed that Hegseth was forced out of a [comment]veterans advocacy group in 2016 due to misconduct and had no job options at the time, but a letter from one of the organization’s trustees in 2016 contradicted that claim.

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), who on Tuesday expressed support for[/comment] other candidates taking the Pentagon position, on Wednesday said, “I see no reason at this point not to be supportive” of Hegseth.

Hegseth has already gained support from a number of Republican senators — both male and female — but he has yet to meet with two moderate female senators known for bucking President-Elect Donald Trump: Sens. Susan Collins (R-MN) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). He is meeting with them next week.

With 53 Republicans set to take the Senate, Hegseth can only lose three Republican Senate votes in order to be confirmed, assuming all Democrats vote against his confirmation.

Another unknown is Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) — who wants to be the defense secretary nominee if Hegseth fails, according to the Federalist’s Sean Davis. She has so far only expressed tepid support.

She posted on Wednesday after meeting with Hegseth, “I appreciate Pete Hegseth’s service to our country, something we both share. Today, as part of the confirmation process, we had a frank and thorough conversation.”

Hegseth — who has thanked all senators publicly — responded to her with, “Thank you @SenJoniErnst — for your service to our country and commitment to this important process.”

In addition to the smear campaign, there were also rumors swirling around on Tuesday that Trump was considering replacing Hegseth with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

However, Hegseth told reporters on Wednesday he had spoken to Trump directly that morning and that Trump told him to keep fighting and that he was behind him all the way.

Hegseth also appeared on the Megyn Kelly Show on Wednesday, where he also said he spoke to Trump, who told him he had his back.

They admitted to knowingly putting out false information. And it just so happened to be false information regarding an American election.

I'm sure you were told different, however.

    It's bullshit
The same could be said of the mainstream media...which Fox is part of, IMO. Their popularity, as you say they're dominating cable news, kind of makes them 'mainstream.'

Hell, I give Fox News credit--look what they've built over the past couple decades.
They've had, and no doubt will have again, a sitting POTUS calling in basically daily to shoot the shit (despite being so busy as we're told).

There's winners and losers in life. Fox News as Charlie would say: winning.

There would have never been a Fox News if the traditional mainstream media had been "Fair and Balanced."

They deserve the shooting the shit calls for their objective coverage of Trump.
