It has nothing to do with that.

Moderate politicians don't do anything to ameliorate the situation: they spend and waste money, and regarding substantive issues, their policy is to keep quiet and kick the can down the road.
    Yes!

Moderate Republicans spend or rubber stamp spending thru the roof. That's all they do. The uniparty. They're not the solution to what this country needs. We dont need proven losing generational past status quo. This is why I appreciate the extremes on both sides to an extent. We're telling you ENOUGH. We're trying to scare you into seriousness. I want immigration austerity. They want some socialism.

Both sides are telling the do nothings to DO something. The extremes are an extension of the country. The country wants shit done and that's why our elections are so close with no clear mandate/winners.

Mar-A-Lago Special Master: Appeals Court Appears Likely To Side With DOJ And Shut Down Trump Review

    Alison Durkee
    Forbes Staff
    Nov 22, 2022,04:01pm EST

A panel of appeals court judges signaled Tuesday they’re likely to end a special master’s review of documents the Justice Department seized from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate, repeatedly challenging the Trump legal team’s arguments and expressing skepticism the president was unfairly targeted by the DOJ with its search.

Three judges at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals—two of whom were appointed by Trump—heard arguments Tuesday…

…The judges repeatedly questioned Trump attorney Jim Trusty over whether there was any court precedent to back up the ex-president’s arguments against the Justice Department taking documents from Mar-A-Lago…

…Judges noted that Trump’s legal argument rests solely on the fact it was a former president whose property was searched, and would otherwise be “virtually indistinguishable” from any other case in which the target of an investigation had their property searched.

Judge William H. Pryor, a George W. Bush appointee, said the court has “to be concerned about the precedent we would create” by ruling in Trump’s favor…

Pryor also disputed Trusty’s argument that a special master was necessary because non-White House documents—including a photo of Celine Dion—were among the items the DOJ seized, noting he doesn’t “think it’s necessarily the fault of the government if someone has intermingled classified documents with all other personal property.”

I have been intrigued by the Trump lawyers claiming that these investigations cannot go forward as the DOJ was going because of the "precedent it would set" Well I understand that their concern is their perception that the DOJ is being used in a political manner. Or at least that is the bunker they are trying to shelter in. But when your client does things that are unprecedented, the reactions to that are going to be unprecedented. If Trump has assured himself of anything, it is that he will not be forgotten. He is not going to go down in history like Chester A Arthur. For better or worse, Trump, his administration and its aftermath are going to be studied and dissected by the public and academics for the next century.

The closest politician who proposed European style socialism was Bernie Sanders, and he got bounced out. Agree with him or not, at least he favored policy which would benefit the citizenry.

At the other end of the spectrum are people who would reign in spending, offer corporate tax incentives, etc. Again, the benefit would be better paying jobs for Americans.

Either approach has it's benefits, but the status quo does little.

Id go with that. Hes a scumbag. They all are to a point but for a president, he did pretty damn good. Bushs first term was good too.

Ever since those 2 its just been a steady stream of shit sandwiches.

I was all in Bush jr, gov of my state, voted for the old man twice...I don't think he was as bad as a lot of folks think, I know I know the MAGA crowd hate him, elitist/neocon/globalist/rino etc, he was the last Republican to win the popular vote in '04, and his dad in '88. That's not a good run

Clinton was an anomaly: he was a moderate, yet he governed with a purpose: for example, balancing the budget was a key objective during his Presidency. There were other issues that he championed, on the domestic front. Internationally, he wasn't super hawkish. All of these aspects made him widely liked.

On the other hand, most moderates are purposeless. My example isn't the best, but in NY, for example: most elected Republican officials are moderates; they talk a lot, preach platitudes, yet they do nothing to make the State more competitive. They keep the lights on, they keep the roads paved, the State parks staffed, etc., but they do little to make the State more competitive.

Most moderate Republican candidates at the Federal level would do the same. They'll occupy the office and keep the lights on, but they won't do anything to ameliorate the issues affecting the Nation: they will not reign in the deficit, secure the border/streamline the immigration process for qualified applicants, nor would they level the playing field with regard to trade imbalances. If a moderate candidate would champion these causes, he/she would be widely liked, respected, and supported.

They NEVER tackle the nation's most pressing issues. Like you say...just keep the lights on.

See, the difference between the "sane" people and the "crazies" is that given a majority..the "crazies" will actually implement.
