Trump tariffs to destroy the model train business? I get these type articles on my smart phone Google news feed 24 x7. Maybe because I'm a swing voter in PA which is a swing state? And I've been talking trains with my youngest son lately because his gf inherited a bunch of Lionel's from her Uncle?

FYSA, I got to meet with DOGE last week.
Came away kind of unimpressed if I am being honest. Without Elon there, they are just data analyst geeks.

Obviously agreed. But, I feel, we were already in agreement before his first day on the job.
So, as we approach the 100th day of Trump 2.0, it hasn't been going so well. In fact, it's been shitty, even some Trump voters agree with that assessment. Yes, it's still very early. I think this is what I, and some others, had been saying after he won and was filling up his Cabinet with sycophants where no one would dare tell him 'no.' I think his first term went much more smoothly (in comparison), I believe, because there were people around him who would counsel and advise, and actually know what they were doing. This time, with solely loyalists simply saying 'yes' to him--either not knowing what's right or wrong, or just blindly going along cuz Trump said so, there are no guardrails to keep him in line. Therefore you get all these comparisons to dictatorship and authoritarianism, especially when the 3 pillars of government don't seem equal now.
And DOGE, most people will agree, was a good idea conceptually but the execution has been poor. How many times have they eliminated programs and fired people only to rehire them back or reinstate at least a part of a program? Seems they have more flip-flops than Sammy Hagar at this point.
As I said, we can all agree that cleaning up government and its waste and fraud was sorely needed. I think it's also a good thing to see that there wasn't as much fraud and waste as was initially thought.

A for effort but the trillion turning into 160 billion is a failure to me. It's just not as bad as advertised.

As usual with Trump, many of the ideas are good at the 30,000 foot level, but they are poorly executed.

Their starter yesterday didn’t even make it out of the first inning yesterday. Interim has some work to do.
