Not surpised by this. He has to kiss the ring. Trump's endorsement of him in the primaries allowed him to go from 3rd place to 1st. He just was elected Senator so he has almost 5 years of not worrying about who he supports in 2023. He also beat a very formidable centrist Democrat. Wasn't like he was going against some wacko. So he owes Trump and definitely can see this. in fact he was one of hte only guys that won with Trump's backing this fall.

That said, I have to like the guy a little bit. My wife is related to him,

Trump’s Best Foreign Policy? Not Starting Any Wars - WSJ
    Jan. 31, 2023 2:21 pm ET

He has my support in 2024 because I know he won’t recklessly send Americans to fight overseas.

    By

    J.D. Vance

A few days before America’s 2022 midterm elections, Ukraine’s President Volodomyr Zelensky accused Russia of firing a rocket into Poland. It was a claim with extraordinary implications. Poland, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, benefits from the alliance’s mutual defense pact—an attack against one is an attack against all. The U.S. would plausibly have an obligation to respond militarily to a Russian attack inside Poland. In making the accusation, Mr. Zelensky was pushing on the dominoes that could start the world’s first war between nuclear powers.

The rocket attack, it turns out, came not from Vladimir Putin’s Russia but from Ukrainian air defenses. Even after NATO made that assessment and acknowledged that Russia hadn’t fired the rocket, Mr. Zelensky continued to deny Ukrainian responsibility. The story faded from the headlines, and Mr. Zelensky enjoyed a hero’s welcome in Washington in December. American taxpayer money has continued to flow to Ukraine. A wiser foreign policy wouldn’t have let such conduct go unnoticed.
Bipartisan foreign policy consensus has led the country astray many times. Leadership in both parties supported the invasion of Iraq, the decadeslong nation-building project in Afghanistan, regime change in Libya and guerrilla war in Syria. All of these policies cost a lot of money and killed many. None of those conflicts has served the nation’s long-term interest. Very few were ever challenged by a leader of national significance.

That is, of course, until Donald Trump came along. American partisans view Mr. Trump’s record primarily through a domestic lens. To my fellow Republicans, Mr. Trump lowered taxes and worked hard to deregulate the federal bureaucracy. To Democrats, Mr. Trump was a corrupt narcissist who earned his two impeachments. Yet neither party acknowledges perhaps the most important part of Mr. Trump’s legacy: his successful foreign policy.
My entire adult lifetime has been shaped by presidents who threw America into unwise wars and failed to win them. I had just started high school when George W. Bush was elected president, and his presidency is the first I remember with any detail. Mr. Bush allowed a just war in Afghanistan to turn into a nation-building quagmire and then started an unjust war in Iraq. His successor, Barack Obama, doubled down on nation building in Afghanistan and launched a new war of his own in Libya, with the enthusiastic support of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In Mr. Trump’s four years in office, he started no wars despite enormous pressure from his own party and even members of his own administration. Not starting wars is perhaps a low bar, but that’s a reflection of the hawkishness of Mr. Trump’s predecessors and the foreign-policy establishment they slavishly followed. But Mr. Trump did more than simply keep the peace. He brokered the Abraham Accords, a historic agreement between Israel and Sunni Arab states providing the best hope of a long-term counterbalance to Iran. He began the long, slow process of decoupling the U.S. from its economic reliance on China. He opened diplomatic talks with North Korea after a half century of stagnation. And he pushed hard—to much derision—for Europe to take more responsibility for its own defense, precisely so that the U.S. wouldn’t be drawn so deeply and dangerously into a conflict like the one in Ukraine.

A common critique of Mr. Trump, even from his ideological allies, is that he lacks “statesmanship.” Even people who like his policies wish he exercised more verbal restraint. Fair enough. But there’s an implicit critique of America’s leaders hidden below the surface of that accusation. Why is it that the people the U.S. trains for leadership are so careful with their words yet so reckless with their actions? Why does America devote billions of dollars to recruiting and training its best young minds for leadership, only to have those minds orchestrate one foreign-policy disaster after another?

The answer is that, from grand-strategy seminars to the State Department, our entire notion of statesmanship is broken. For many, statesmanship means having a polite social-media presence and throwing out slogans about “freedom” and “democracy” while starting world-historic catastrophes in the Middle East. I prefer a different kind of statesmanship: one that stands athwart the crowd, reminding leaders in both parties that the U.S. national interest must be pursued ruthlessly but also carefully, with strong words but great restraint.

Donald Trump’s presidency marked the first real disruption to a failed consensus and the terrible consequences it wrought. That fact, more than any single accomplishment, is the enduring legacy of Mr. Trump’s first term. But there is much more to do, and I’m supporting him for president in 2024 because he’s the only person certain to do it.

Today he is and unfortunately he has to be. Only reason why he won the primary in Ohio is due to Trump's backing. I mean this does happen in politics. I know with Trump being associated it appears to be worse than others. Happens all across the country and is why people fight for endorsements. To his credit he already has co-sponsered a bi-partisian bill with that dasterdaly MAGA supporter Amy Klobuchar.

So if he can do that, then he is doing his job

J.D. has always been a solid sensible guy who was not a Trump supporter in the beginning. Like me, he changed when he was saw the platform and the issues being discussed. The Uniparty was not doing it and they never will.

Lefties hate J.D. for his book, movie, and then his Trump support.

The guy’s crime is that he’s a poor white trash kid from Appalachia that made through the blue blood walls and pointed out that the system is fucked. Now he’s a U.S. Senator and they hate him.

Trump’s DNA Proposal in Rape Accuser Suit Rejected by Judge

(Bloomberg) -- Donald Trump’s offer to provide a DNA sample to a New York writer who claims he raped her in the 1990s was rejected by a judge as too late and with too many strings attached.

After balking at the request for years, the former president last week offered the DNA sample to his accuser, E. Jean Carroll. In exchange, he wanted her to turn over pages he says are missing from a forensic report on the dress she says she wore during the alleged attack.

US District Judge Lewis Kaplan said in a ruling Wednesday that there “is no justification for any such deal,” with a trial set to start in April.

Trump “failed to demonstrate good cause to reopen discovery for the purpose of obtaining these pages of the DNA report,” Kaplan wrote. “Nor is there any legitimate basis for this court to accept Mr. Trump’s offer to provide his DNA sample made contingent on the court granting his application.”

Trump’s lawyer Joseph Tacopina declined to comment on the ruling. Trump has long denied attacking Carroll and claims the lawsuit is part of a broader “witch hunt” against him.

    Threats to Trump

The trial draws near as Trump, who is making his third run for president, faces legal threats on several other fronts. They include a Georgia criminal probe into his efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, a New York investigation into hush money payments made before the 2016 vote, and a US Justice Department inquiry into his handling of classified documents.

In his ruling Wednesday, Kaplan said the request for the missing pages — the appendix to the report — comes too late because Trump has been on notice for years that his copy of the report lacked an appendix.

“Despite this obvious omission, Mr. Trump never in three years asked a court to require its production,” the judge wrote. He added that Trump has frequently sought to delay the case.

    Carroll’s Evidence

Carroll gave up on her request for Trump’s DNA earlier to move her claims to trial faster. Her lawyer Roberta Kaplan said she had already gathered enough evidence from other sources — including testimony from people Carroll had confided in about the alleged attack in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in Manhattan years ago, and other women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.

Kaplan declined to comment on the ruling.

The forensic report on the black Donna Karan dress that Carroll stored after the alleged attack shows DNA from an unidentified male, according to her court filings. The judge said that delaying the trial over the DNA probably wouldn’t be worth it because the result “could well prove entirely inconclusive.”

Trump said last week he plans to testify in his own defense in a defamation suit Carroll filed against him in 2019 after he accused her of fabricating the attack to sell a book. The DNA offer related to the more recent sexual battery suit she filed against him.

Both Trump and Carroll have already been deposed under oath about the alleged attack.

The case is Carroll v. Trump, 22-cv-10016, US District Court, Southern District of New York (Manhattan).

‘Florida win for Trump’: New Florida GOP chair concerns some DeSantis backers

Christian Ziegler has worked closely with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

    02/18/2023

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Republicans on Saturday picked a political consultant with ties to former President Donald Trump advisers to lead the state party heading into the 2024 presidential cycle — a move that some supporters of Gov. Ron DeSantis fear is a “giant Florida win for Trump.”

Christian Ziegler defeated Evan Power 126-100 in the election to chair the Republican Party of Florida. Ziegler previously was the party’s vice chair, while Power served as the statewide GOP chair of chairs and as the leader of the Leon County Republican Party.

They were running to replace outgoing chair Joe Gruters, who decided to not seek reelection.
After they selected Ziegler, party members picked Power to serve as his vice chair.

“While the results may not be what I personally wanted, the Republican Party is well positioned with a unified team that will work constantly to beat the Democrats in Florida,” Power said.

Both Ziegler and Power have said publicly throughout the race that their job as party chair would be to support Republicans and not meddle in primaries, but the race was viewed as a minor proxy war between supporters of Trump and DeSantis. Trump has already announced he is running for president and is increasingly attacking the Florida governor, who many anticipate will be his strongest challenger for the Republican nomination. DeSantis is expected to declare his candidacy in Spring.

Ziegler, a Republican political consultant with clients across the country, has worked closely with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, giving some the perception he was a more Trump-aligned candidate even as he has professed his support for DeSantis since he first took office in 2018. Ziegler’s wife, Bridget, is the co-founder of the conservative parental rights organization Moms for Liberty and was endorsed by DeSantis in her race for Sarasota County school board.

Trump’s team did nothing to downplay the proxy war perception after the vote.

“Chair races across the country are and should be important for people running for president,” said a consultant familiar with the Trump campaign’s thinking. The person was granted anonymity to freely discuss the race. “To that extent, the more Trump candidate won today. That means the Trump campaign is likely pleased with the outcome.”

DeSantis’s team brushed off any suggestion that Ziegler’s win represented a loss for the governor, nothing Power will still be vice chair and the governor works well with both.

“Both of our guys won, and we look forward to working with them,” said a DeSantis adviser who was not authorized to speak publicly. DeSantis did not personally get involved in the race.

Power’s supporters, who would back DeSantis over Trump if the governor ran for president, were less optimistic. Trump, they say, could secure more influence in Florida with Ziegler leading the GOP since the party chair has sway over decisions on ballot access and how party money is spent. The chair also helps get-out-the-vote efforts, including early voting and vote-by-mail pushes.

“DeSantis didn’t weigh in at all on the [Republican Party of Florida] race, and I think he regrets it,” said one GOP consultant backing DeSantis who was given anonymity to discuss the race openly. “Ziegler is 100% Trump. He’s partners with Lewandowski and others. This is a giant Florida win for the Trump people.”

Another DeSantis supporter said, “I think six months from now, DeSantis may have some serious regret not getting involved.”

Harmeet Dhillon, who backed Trump’s 2020 election challenges and recently lost in her bid to be Republican National Committee chair, praised Ziegler’s win.

“I’m thrilled that Christian, who is respected by Republicans across the state and who has the confidence of so many conservative leaders, including elected officials, was elected as chair,” she said in a statement to POLITICO.

Over the past few election cycles, the state GOP has turned Florida into essentially a one-party state. Republicans dominated every significant race during the 2022 midterms, including DeSantis’ reelection, which he won by nearly 20 percentage points.

That sort of track record helped Ziegler snag the victory.

“When you consistently outperform the rest of the nation in back-to-back election cycles, you don’t suddenly rewrite the playbook for victory,” said Florida GOP consultant Max Goodman. “Ziegler’s experience as vice chair of the party will allow a seamless transition as he works to expand the majority and match the results of his predecessor.”

Anyone who's resume says "backed Trump's challenges to the 2020 election" should be eliminated from consideration from any post within the Republican Party.
