CF played Philly once. It was a great time. The album hadn't even been released yet and they probably sold out--- the place was packed. The audience was LOUD!! There's nothing like a Philly audience. By comparison, what you can hear of the audiences in The Circle CDs were nothing in comparison.

I don't understand why they didn't return. Sam hasn't been back in any form since then either. To quote Bulldog from the TV show Frasier, "It's B.S. Total B.S.!!!"

    Blind, not totally true.
CFIII's promotion campaign was half assed. No tour, not that many TV appearances. Even though the record had great potential, i don't feel they gave it their all. With CFI, they WERE an arena act. I saw them at Universal Ampitheatre, Queensryche opened for them. CFIII, they didnt do a proper tour.

How can Sammy whine about the cost of recording an album for a few hunfred thousand and not getting the money back when he's worth $100m? If need be, each member could chuck in $25k (with the exception of Satch).

That's how you become worth $100Million......you don't make investments that have a negative return

I just don't see why you need to spend $100k to make a record these days.

But if it's financially viable, an expensive hobby so to speak, then it's all good, no? He probably spent more than $100k on his last car (that lost 1/3 of its value when he drove it off the forecourt) yet no one will think that was throwing money on a losing proposition.

If he doesn't want to do it then fair enough but all the talk I've heard is that he wants to do it and if so, he has the funds to do so. They all do.

Expensive cars can appreciate in value. You normally don't buy cars with the expectation of making money. If your job is a musician, you don't make albums to lose money. Kind of a silly analogy.

Some cars can appreciate but the majority don't. I don't agree the analogy is silly because I am coming at it purely from a viability perspective. I accept, as Sammy does, that producing records to make money means investing in a new album is to throw money down the drain (aka: a dumb move). This is why no record company will do it because they only speculate to accumulate, like any business.

However, Sammy says he loves the band and would love to deliver new music to the fans. In this scenario he isn't converned about making his money back - he's doing it out of love not financial gain. So if he'll happily drop $200k on a Porsche 911, $50k on holidays or money on anything else that he doesn't expect to see a return on, then he can easily do the same with Chickenfoot.

Sammy's had his career at making money from music. But he can still afford to keep at it as a hobby.

What I don't get is Sammy saying that it's too expensive to make a new album with Chickenfoot but yet he is looking to go into the studio this fall to record new music with The Circle??? WTF?

I think Sam wants to play VH and Satch refuses to (doesn't want to be dragged into the comparison mess). With the circle he plays what he wants. Otherwise why isn't the circle just chickenfoot with Bonham replacing Chad?

I really don't understand Sam sometimes. And all this CF stuff makes me think that he was more of an instigator of the VH breakup with him then he likes to lead on.

He says the last year of his tenure in VH was miserable, yet today he says that he is never the guy to bail/quit. He has said that he would still be in VH if they didn't kick him out.

Fast forward to Chickenfoot. Chickenfoot should have been (and was, for a short time, admittedly) Sam's DREAM. It was like VH without the drama. Without the bullshit. Without the ego. It was like the beginning of his time in VH, only without the baggage of being the "second singer". It was the band that Sammy should have wanted to sail into the sunset with.

Judging by what Sammy has said about final days of VH, you'd think he'd do everything he could to keep CF moving along. But here is is basically saying, "I don't want to be apart of CF anymore, but I do want to start this new band with Bonham and Vic."

Not taking anything away from Vic or Jason. Both are EXTREMELY talented in their own right, but Bonham doesn't compare to Chad and Vic doesn't compare to Satch. Both in terms of talent and chemistry with Sam/Mike, imo.

Everybody is entitled to do whatever it is that makes them happy and it's obvious Sam is happy with The Circle, but I just can't understand how quick he got tired of CF. Hell, Black Country Communion lasted longer.

The more I think about it, that's the only logical explanation as to why they didn't do VH songs, and I think that really did bother The Red Rocker. I'd wager that is equally coupled with the Chad factor as far as why they're still on hiatus.

Remember, at first before the '09 tour they were talking about doing VH songs, RHCP songs, and even Satch songs (I assume jamming them). Then they showed the pics of the tour rehearsal and Sam had his little "Bad Motor Scooter" guitar on his lap in one pic. I thought that was just going to be one of the songs from back catalogs. Apparently, that was the only one! Until "Rock Candy" during the CFIII Tour...whoopie.

I really wanted to hear Joe and Chad play VH, too. Shitfuckers.
