It's definitely a problem, but it's something that the major internet retailers will have to figure out. We've already seen Amazon start to put up retail space. The thing is that without the ability to go in and try and instrument one is far less likely to purchase it in the first place, so the manufacturers are going to take a hit and they'll have a stake in figuring it out as well.

Then again, I would have never thought buying clothes or shoes through a catalog or online would be a thing, yet here we are. Maybe consumers will adapt as well.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

And/or the owner is far too full of himself. I bought my first Kramer in the 80's at The St. Charles Guitar Exchange when I was a teenager. The owner Dan was a piece of work, but he had all the popular brands and all the big names would go to his shop if they needed something while in town. Looky who's on the owners obituary page...https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/na...?pid=178150423

    Here's a good article about Dan https://www.vhnd.com/2014/02/04/how-...ying-v-guitar/

Sorry that I hijacked this thread with my last reply. Just a couple interesting things with Eddie in them.

    This.

I hate buying gear. Thankfully, I rarely have to do it because I like my setup. When I was a teenager, there was one dude at the local store who was totally awesome. He'd be totally honest, would give great discounts when he could, and knew that I had pretty specific taste... and sometimes unorthodox ideas. Lol. When I'd buy stuff that I was using for some experiment I was trying (10s on an acoustic, for instance), the other guys who worked there would try to give me their holier-than-thou lectures, and he'd just say, "He knows what he's doing."

When he left that store, it sucked, but I also found out that all the other employees seemingly didn't particularly like him. It was obvious to me why: he had no ego, no attitude, and actually gave a shit about his customers.

Shit, this just reminded me of the last time I went into the store to buy something from the pro-audio department and mentioned that I still use a Digi 003 console. The guy serving me snarkily said, "Ha! Still on XP, then?"

I was on Windows 7 at the time and told him as such, but also mentioned that I got the 003 and a bunch of other stuff from a good friend who was very high up in the chain of one of their biggest suppliers. (I named the guy.) Dude serving me totally changed his attitude.
