Default Would you prefer Tokyo Live 2013 or US Festival Live 1983?

The question of the day is:

Given *both* had vocal issues, which VH show would you rather see released this year?

    A) The upcoming Tokyo Live (2013) with the 58 year old DLR pipes?

    B) or US Festival Live (1983) with the drunken 28 year old DLR?

    Cheers,

I'll take "neither" for $200 Alex.

Tokyo Dome because I feel like 1) they recorded the show with equipment that is more suited for editing and mixing in today's studio; 2) 1984 and ADKOT songs; and 3) A release of a show from 18 months ago gives a little more of an indication they are not 'retired' and trying to show the mainstream public their 'current' lineup in advance of new material.

I agree with this completely. I think people are gonna dismiss how good this album will sound without giving it any kind of chance, plus it was a terrific setlist.

Having said that...I'd take both if they offered!

I am just not a fan of live albums by anybody...period. They lose their impact because you aren't there. And if you lose the impact of seeing it live, you are just listening to a sub par version of the recorded album.

That's me of course. A Live DVD would have gotten my excitement level up a bit more. At least then you can put it on the big screen and at times get a feel of the live environment.

Just me, I know some on here love live albums, and more power to you, but for me it's just a lesser recording of the original studio version. There are exceptions, for example OWTR and WGFA off of RHRN, those are powerhouses, but usually it is a tepid copy.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

There is just no way in Hell VH is going release anything that doesn't sound great! The setlist was top notch.. I guess I am in the minority here, but I am really looking foward to hearing this album!

VH should go the Pearl Jam / Metallica direction and just release every live show they've ever done. They could do it on their own website to avoid production/distribution costs.

I'm looking forward to it too, I just wish there was a companion video with it. Almost no one releases only the audio of a show these days.

Wow, can you imagine control freak Ed if that were to even be suggested to him?

2013, but it should've included a DVD. We already have the US Festival boot, we've all already heard it plenty of times. The guys were so lit you can probably get a contact high from listening to it.

Same. For me, concerts are for attending, home listening is what the artist carefully created.

An audio only version....*yawn". I wouldn't hate a real video of the US fest.

The US Fest is my favorite VH video boot. I have a decent audio boot, so if it was an audio only release I wouldn't be as excited. If it was a video release on blu-ray, I would be in heaven. I haven't found a US Fest boot that looks halfway decent on my 50" tv.
