Since we're talking about album artwork...

Thought I'd give my opinions on each album's artwork.

VHI- I can see record execs. and managers coming up with the concept...although it's very cool. I like it. It's cool cause they all look badass playing their instruments.

VHII-I drew this for art class one year because I really liked the colors in it. I think its simplicity reflects that the band doesn't need any elaborate cover because by this time they've established they are more than just image.

W&CF-Oh, here we are again...but we're just trying to look all dorky cause we still don't care about our image...except Dave because, as usual, he's kissing or eyeing the camera again.
Maybe my favorite album art tho. I guess it's the photography.

FW-Well, maybe this one is my fav. The artwork is displaying many scenes and is very hectic...much like the music on FW. We get more layers...sounds, etc. Great combination of artwork and music altogether.

DD-I thought it sucked for a really long time but I'm liking it more.

1984-I remember my mom thinking I was getting some really awful music just from the artwork and she's not the least bit religious. It just screams naughtiness. The songs are pretty naughty too .

5150-Pretty cool. The only of the Sam eras that I like. Kinda says, "hey, we're still strong."

OU812-Alex is the only one who looks half-way cool. I can't stand seeing Ed's chin looking all chisled at the bottom. Sam's hair has now become a mop.

FUCK-ehh...it sucks.

Balance-very weird looking to me. Kinda gross. Don't like it.

III-pretty much agree with everyone that it would have been better if the words "Van Halen" were placed elsewhere....preferably lower right corner. To me it signifies a bunch in the gut...that the music is going in a different direction. Not too many were prepared for III and it was a punch in the gut.

The cover for Diver Down is garbage, it's probably the worst cover I have ever seen.

Actually VH themselves came up with the idea for the cover - Warner Bros. had a cover made up - but it looked like 'The Clash' (1978 remember!) the band said "no way" and came up with the eventual cover.

And I'm trying to think did I read that from a Dave interview or an Eddie int.

I think the cover for VH1 tells you "This album contains a whole lotta fire and energy" damn straight! and the back cover is also great with Dave soaring in the air,makes a point.
