I was sure he had died a while back and I had to google it. It was his daughter Eleanor who died of brain cancer.

Former Vice Presidents seem to just fade into the background don't they? Unless they run successfully for President they kind of get ignored. Former VP's still living are Quayle, Cheney, Gore and Pence and of course Biden

The celebrity power of the VP has a very short shelf life. Gore maximized his and it will be interesting to see if Pence jumps into the next electoral cycle ( my bet is no)

Wow, I would’ve figured him for older. I mean, shit, that means in that 1991 photo on the link, he was only 43 if I’m doing my math correctly! Rest In Peace, mr. steinman.

That sucks. He wrote some great songs. I love the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell albums.

That sucks. They had a couple big songs back in the day. I had one of their records.

Can you imagine being an astronaut in those days? Those folks had guts to trust that program

And to be the guy who basically drops the guys off at the moon but whose job was to circle the moon all alone and wait to "pick up" those guys? That had to be the most alone any person in the history of the world has ever been. What an experience.

    RIP

As a kid in the 1960s the Mercury- Apollo astronauts where up there with Unitas and Aaron. Mike was a pretty humble guy but he did his job and did it well. Nerves of steel. I heard old Elon say that many of the people going to Mars are not going to make it and of course they are all never coming back to Earth. I bet Mike and the guys in the original NASA days would jump on that RIP
    10-6-2020 RIP King of sixstrings.
