Did Chuck start it with “Sweet Little Sixteen”?

I’d like to think it’s because rock ‘n roll is traditionally aimed at teenage boys, and the concerns of what goes on during those teenage years. Probably because a lot of rock stars don’t leave their teenage years behind when they hit 20. Or 30. Maybe by 40 but by then the “teenage” songs are the hits and they gotta play ‘em every night. And teenage boys typically like teenage girls.

But these guys write these songs in their 20's. I dont think they're writing from the viewpoint of a 16 year old boy. From what I read...Christine Sixteen did cause some eyebrows to be raised.

The fuck me suck me era of rock was all about underage sex. I'm surprised Chuck Berry Sweet 16 got any radio play especially in the south. Ask Jimmy Page about it.

yeah, never had any albums, but "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", "The Legend Of Wooley Swamp" and another one on the Urban Cowboy album - "Falling In Love For The Night" that I really like. And there were others that I'd hear on the radio over the years. Rest in Peace, Charlie
