I remember when I bought that album, and didn't like it, it has to much synth. With time it grew on me, listenig to some songs live was great and a good way to liking Cabo Wabo, but latley I took the CD to my car and I just can't listen to any other thing, it is a very good album, well balanced, it has great rocker tunes like Sucker in a 3 Piece, A.F.U., Source of Infection, Black and Blue, great ballads like When it's Love or Feels so Good. Great lyrics like Mine all Mine, or funny experimental songs like Finish What Ya Started.
I really think it's one of the best VH albums ever, I love them all but latley this one's on my top 5.
I know in some songs you can't hear Mikeys bass but if you listen carefully you can, and his harmonies on this album are unbelievable.
OU812 ONE OF THE BEST EVER."I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone
"Van Halen is definitely a ladies band, and I´ve got the Polaroids to prove it". - David Lee Roth
WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.

Oh and I almost forgot, Eddie shines on this album, great riffs, and great tapping.

I've always liked OU812. There are some really strong songs on it, but the sound sucks. I'd like to hear a remastered version of it.
Mine All Mine, Cabo Wabo, and Black And Blue are my favorite songs. One of the biggest strengths on OU812 in my opinion is Ed's solos. On every song the solo fits well and the playing is amazing."It's so damn hot... milk was a bad choice." --Ron Burgundy, Anchorman

The songs on OU812 sound amazing live. I wasn't too thrilled with 'Finish What Ya Started' until I heard it live. 'Cabo Wabo' is such a great song to sit back and drink to. 'AFU' and 'Sucker In A 3 Piece' really rock!

Mine all Mine is one of the best VH song: it's strong and very musical, has a great sint and guitar work and a very good lirycs. Then are very good Cabo Wabo, Sorce of infection, B'n'B (great guitar).
Quite good the ballads, perhaps There is too of Sammy in it!!
Good the Heavy songs, very good the guitar in Sucker in a 3 piece.
Finish what ya started is great live......I don't remamber the fuking words

There's only 2 songs I like on OU812, Black And Blue and Cabo Wabo.
"One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne
"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello
"There is no heir to the throne of Eddie Van Halen. Nobody sits on that throne. Nobody takes that throne. Here's why it's different with Eddie: when a great guitar player passes, you just move on to another, right? But in this case, Eddie wasn't just a 'guitar player'. We're talking about a guy who changed culture and how we play guitar. He was like an alien coming in and fucking everything up so much that even the legends beforehand are like, 'Okay .. what is happening here? What sorcery is this?'" -Nuno Bettencourt

It's my favorite Van Hagar album. Great album, start to second to last song. Don't really like A. Apolitical Blues. The bass does suck on it though. Can't wait for the remaster.

OU812 is a pretty good album/cd/whatever you want to call it. I personally prefer 5150 and FUCK from the Hagar era, but OU812 holds its own as well with quality tracks like Mine All Mine (great lyrics, also this song would sound so killer remastered!), When It's Love (great balance between the keys and guitar), and Finish What Ya Started (cool and unique style all of its own). I can pretty much listen to this whole album, but I could have easily done without the last two tracks, Sucker In A 3 Piece and A Apolitical Blues...
Always one more,
You're never satisfied.
Never one for all with you,
It's only one for me

I dig the album. There was a time when the was not the case. I always liked FWYS and Mine All Mine. However I have started to appreciate songs like Feels So Good also. Now when I say this, I know I am going against the grain, but I really dig Sucker In a 3 Piece, and Apolitical Blues. I think they are great tunes. Now I know Black and Blue was a single, and most people like it, except for those who hate the lyrics. I dislike it for more than the lyrics. I think it is really plodding, and does not go anywhere. It reminds of a lot of the songs on FUCK. There are a lot of plodding, uninspired songs there too. When It's Love is what it is, no need to beat that horse.

OU812 is not my favorite VH Record, but it features some of my favorite VH Tunes:
Cabo Wabo (One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES of ANY ERA)
Mine All Mine
Feels So Good (The BEST Ballad VH ever did IMHO. When It's Love, Love Walks In, Not Enough, have NOTHING on this tune!)
Sucker In a 3 Piece (LOVE this tune. Detractors me damned!)
Finish What Ya Started: A tune that grew on me and now I totally love. But when I bought Ou812 in summer '88 I did not like it."Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

It's Van Halen so it's got to be good-right? Seriously though I think OU812 is a solid record.

Definitely without Squire. As long as he was there I believed in the company line.
