I'd compare this to the intro to Mean Street, but this one kicks way more ass.
Speaking of Women And Children First, that's the top album that I like to sing along with the most. There's just so much energy from Dave and it's a great album.

Achievements:
Well, I'd say that the intro to Mean Street is better than Fools, but that's just my opinion, and I love them both. But I totally agree that Women and Children First is an amazing album. Those Dave era albums just reek of intensity all the way through, and WACF was a great way for VH to kick off the 80's.

No doubt, Ed's intro is killer on Fools. Great tune overall, as well. It's hard to compare ANY intro to what Ed did on Mean Street, but Fools is definitely one of his best, IMO. WACF is also without question one of my all-time favorite VH albums.

The intro to "Mean Streets" is untouchable, IMO.
My favorite song off of FW.
Fools might be my favorite song off of WACF. though.
The intro is smokin'. Bluesy and pissed giving way to "good old Eddie" athleticism is how I hear it.

Alright, it may not be better, but I like it more.
Just to make sure, you're including when the drum comes in as part of the intro, right?

The intro to Fools is much more raw and intense than Mean Streets. But both are awesome tunes. I'm biased because WACF is my favorite, followed closely by FW.

I like the Joplin-esque call and response between Dave and Ed - but, I'd have to agree with the Mean Street intro being better - it's a total sonic kick-in-the-nuts.

Wolf, you better be wearing a cup.
I consider the opening to Mean Street to end when the last wailing siren-like note ends and the main riff begins.

Wolf, in your first post you said the opening to "Mean Street" was a sonic kick in the nuts. LOL.
Remember what Eddie said Dave should do if he ever spoke to him the way he did at the MTV Music Awards in '96?
I was only kidding with you, dude.

I know you were kidding, DIF. I thought maybe Unchained Wolfies comments were directed towards me. I'd sure hate to have a budding pube farmer call my 32 yr.-old ass "boy" (speaking of wearing a cup).
BTW, "sonic kick-in-the-nuts" is meant to be a compliment, everybody.

Fools intro is Dave trying to sound like Janis Joplin, No? I don't think they played this ever but I have the '79 Ichiban show and they do do the beginning of that song. And Eddie does the intro to Mean Streets during his solo on the '80 tour (at least a show I've heard). Nothing, nothing tops Mean Steets....Best Dave lyrics, best Eddie...top 2 VH albums has to be FW & WACF!
