Watched a few of the new episodes of Black Mirror. First one depressing (with Rashida Jones) but likely will be true in the future. The sequel to the USS Callister was good.

    Like mind trips.

I cannot watch that show. It freaks me out worse than even the creepiest Twilight Zone episodes

I may have mentioned this show before but I am watching it again It is a show from 2012 ... Derek on Netflix. It is a Ricky Gervais production where he plays Derek a rather simple man who works in an old age care home with Hannah, played by the wonderful Kerri Godliman who seems to be a favorite actress of Gervais, working with her also on his show After life.

Derek is an oddball, but an oddball with a beautiful gentle soul. This show is so much about kindness and acceptance and tolerance and self worth that I think it has an important message for today.

You will laugh, but you will also cry and outright squirm particularly at the character Kev who is a drunken, gross, sexual pervert who also hangs out with his friends at the care home.

It is a pretty unique character played by David Earl who also appears with Gervais in After life. He somehow is able to bring humanity to a character who would other wise be repulsive.

But on this second watch I was surprised again by Brent Goldstein who plays the grandson of one of the care home residents. He falls in love with Hannah the care home manager. He could not be more different from the over confident Roy Kent. His acting here is subtle and moving.

The whole show is wonderful in my opinion. Give it a try.

Black Mirror is freaky but that's what why I like it. It's a combo of Twilight Zone and X-Files. Even the music is pretty cool. The way society has been going I wouldn't doubt this will be our future!

I read today never to suggest watching the first episode to someone.lol
I've seen 5 or 6, they seem to go downhill fast. That said I may start watching again

You kind of have to pick and choose the Black Mirror episodes. Like anything else, some are better than others. While most end on a negative note, some like San Juniper are uplifting.

I also like how they will use name actors too.

Oh I am digging that show on Apple with Jon Hamm "Your Friends and Neighbors." Decent enough.

The Studio is reminding me of why I dislike Seth Rogan. Just annoying

Watched the second episode of the new season of The Last of Us last night, gotta admit it was pretty good. I am amazed at how much I liked Bella Ramsey in Game of Thrones and how much I despise her in this show haha.

    The Conners

The six episode series finale was pretty weak, especially the plodding Darlene and Ben odd relationship situation... but as series finales go it at least set up everyone's futures fairly well. Glad to see Louise finally used properly in the ongoing story line. Jackie rejoining the police force at almost 70 years old was just silly. A lot just felt like the writers had nothing fresh to offer.

It all ended on a high note though, from the big pharma payoff amount, everyone gathering at Roseanne's grave and then the final good night's from everyone.

Didn't realize last night was the series finale. Can't believe that lasted 7 seasons. I would watch the Conners every now and then. Always hoping it would be better than it was. I'll catch the finale on Hulu.

There was a lot of good in those 7 seasons, but a lot of bad also. They had a hard time writing relationships, to the point that you barely believed these people even knew each other. Becky probably got the best treatment, she grew and changed the most and was well acted. Too many other characters were just spinning their wheels every season. Jackie had already burned out in the Roseanne revival season... I feel like she never came back properly after that.

You are 100% right about Becky. The episodes that focused on her were generally the best ones.
I never really liked any of the new batch of kids on the show. Maybe that's just because I'm now old enough to yell at kids for walking on my lawn.

Truly incredible to me that Roseanne had that 9th season, then it turns out, in the finale, everything in that season was made up for Roseanne as a writer, Goodman had died (right?), they just totally undid an entire, final season.

Then, decades later, they bring it back, undo parts of that, and fewer than 10 episodes later, they kill off Roseanne, then run for, what, 7 more seasons? I just...I can't even fathom how they pulled that off.

Anyway, as far as The Last of Us goes, sadly, I had avoided spoilers until the day I watched episode 2, which was only 3 days late. So it didn't have the impact it otherwise would have had. Interesting to see where it goes from here (obviously, I did not play the game).

I remember talking to a friend a couple years ago during season 1 of The Last of Us. I knew nothing about the game but he did--he played. I was telling him how I was enjoying the first season and somewhere in the conversation he happened to mention the big spoil of this past episode. So, unfortunately, it was always in the back of my mind as I started watching this season. I wasn't sure if the show would follow the game that faithfully, but looks like it did, at least in that respect. I suppose 'interesting' is the right word when wondering about the rest of the storyline.

Damn, the end of "NCIS: Origins". Or end of the season I guess - not sure how far they plan to take this. It's late '91 as far as I can tell - there was a throw away mention of Tailhook a few episodes ago (or maybe last week) and the Use Your Illusion albums are out. So there are 12 years until we meet Gibbs in the original "NCIS" and a lot has to happen over that time - heck, he's gotta get married and divorced 3 times! And other relationships need to be established - Shepard, Ducky, Fornell, Pryde, etc. Don't know if it's ever stated how long he had been in DC when we first meet him in "NCIS". Wonder how much the writers create a timeline for a major character when they are doing one of these shows? Also wonder if it's one of those shows where in two or more seasons of show time, they only cover a year in chronological time? Was a good first season, but I do hope they don't have too many seasons planned as as much as you hate to see a good thing end, i think we've seen time and time again, the longer a show stays on the air, the harder it seems to become to tell a good story.
