The old UK and Showtime versions both had a certain charm and humor and great characters that made them fun to watch.

This new reboot is just SO in your face, wall to wall progressive woke bullshit. Call me what you will, but the characters are all shitty stereotypes of what you expect people like this to be when you haven't got a clue about different lifestyles. They are all mean and snotty fucks also.

I got about forty + minutes into the first episode where the lesbians were having their baby. Twins were born and the nurse said "You have one each... a lovely and healthy boy and a girl"... to which the birth mother replies... "We don't know that yet". Ugh!

The series also starts off with a shooting at a gay nightclub. I couldn't believe the baggage I witnessed packed into less than an hour.

Kim Cattrall , Juliette Lewis & Ed Begley Jr. are also there in minor roles to add to the mess.

I watch LBGT cinema, films and TV series all the time through my Prime apps and can truly say that this new QaF is truly an agenda driven shitstorm.
Agree. The first two series where a bit uh...graphic for me at times, but that is what fast forward is for. But the relationships among the characters was what the show excelled at. I thought Kim Catrall, Juliette Lewis and Ed Begley Jr...cool, I'll watch that. But it started off as just too much for me. I get it, times have changed and the horror of AIDS is now diminished and rights have been protected and now we are seeing an attempt to roll back on that. And there is Monkey Pox to boot so maybe it is good to reexamine the culture. I guess I am just jaded, or perhaps just wore out and I DO want my entertainment to be socially relevant. Well not always, sometimes it is good to laugh and NOT think

I think I got the mothers mixed up, but that line about not knowing yet if they were a boy or a girl was too much, and a perfect example of how heavy handed the whole thing was.

It's almost like every line spoken by every character was an affirmation for LGBTQ rights... but there were no straight people around to listen Lol!

Wow! Who knew? I thought that all soap operas ended years ago.

What a hoot it would be to start DoOL from the very beginning.

I have no use for soap operas, but do we really need another news program? NBC will fill the daytime spot vacated by Days of Our Lives with NBC News Daily.

by my calculations only about 11,022 hours currently (episodes were only 1/2 hour until April of '75, so 25 minutes for those episodes and 50 minutes for all episodes since). Even at only 16 hours a day, that would take you 689 days to watch the whole thing (and then of course by then they'd have another 137 or so episodes...) Just...wow!

11,000 hours is much more reasonable.

    The Captain

Documentary about Derek Jeter on ESPN. I know a lot of people aren't interested in the subject, but as a Yankee fan, I have a slightly elevated interest in it. I've liked it so far. There was a bit of a lull around the 2004 coverage. LOL

In all seriousness, there is something to be said about how he was raised. More parents should pay attention to that part.

Good to see a lot of former players, even opponents, involved in this doc.

Finished Black Bird on Apple TV+ and started The Resort on Peacock.

The former is based on a true story, where they sent a drug dealer (Taron Egerton, Rocketman), with an offer to commute his sentence, to a tougher prison to get information from a guy who they believed raped and killed some girls (Paul Walter Hauser, Richard Jewell), but was about to get out on appeal.

The latter is about a couple (Cristin Milioti, Palm Springs; William Jackson Harper, The Good Place) not exactly at their happiest on vacation in Mexico when they discover a clue to a mystery they try to unravel.

Black Bird was entertaining and worth the 6 hours. So far, enjoying Resort as well.

Wow! Who knew? I thought that all soap operas ended years ago.

    Daisy???
Never was a DOOL fan. I was an ABC soaps fan since watching the 1/2 hour shows, then 45 minutes then an hour. An hour of programming 5 days a week 50 or so weeks a year. How the heck can the writers expect to write for that? It looks like NBC is trying to do something "innovative" with the DOOL brand by bringing it over to streaming to add to their Salem spin off show. They need to do something because Days is the lowest rated daytime soap right now with just 1.7 million viewers a day. GH gets something like 2.1 and Y&R is just over the 3 million mark. B&B is in second place

The Soap Network launched a while back and I think that is where GH did their Port Charles spin off featuring the yuongest cast members. But it didn't work because it was at a time when soap fans were basically watching live or taping

Then there was the buy out of All My Children by Prospect Park who tried to launch an internet version. But that didn't work for many reasons, not the least of which was ABC taking characters and the actors from AMC over to GH where the writers wrote the most awful out of character story lines for them, leading to a lawsuit against ABC by prospect park who claimed ABC had sold them the rights but had really intended on blending all their soaps into one big mega soap ( which might not have been a bad idea)

I don't think ABC has interest in either soap tho because they haven't even claimed the websites for the shows back from Prospect Park and The Online Network.

But Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are trying to breath new life into the concept by bringing All My Children back as a nighttime soap Pine Valley. It could work.

Most soap opera fans don't watch on regular network anyway. They're DVRing or streaming anyway so it shouldn't be a big change except for the oldest of fans.

The golden age of soap operas is over. The casts have to be so huge to support 5 shows a week that the budgets get bloated and the production values fall. Dang it is such a treat when GH shoots a scene and it is not astro turf and fake trees but actually a real EXTERIOR shot. No budget and for DOOL I bet it is only going to get worse on Peacock. Nighttime soaps with night time budgets and 22 episodes a season are the only way to save any of the soaps.

    The Sandman

Watched the first episode on Sunday night and another last night.

    Very well done. Beautiful... lush.

I don't feel the need to binge watch this. I'd rather take a breather between episodes and not rush it.

The guy playing Morpheus seems a lot more mellow that the guy I remember reading in the books years ago, but it still fits.

Exceptional cast and characters so far, being only two episodes in. Can't wait to see who pops up next.

The Fate Mothers creeped me the fuck out. Cain and Able were a hoot and confused me at first... but that's what they do... over and over. Lol.

Agreed, 47! What an amazing TV series there. I started to watch it last night.

Just like you, I'll watch the other episodes taking the time, not in a marathon way as many folks are doing here in BrasŪlia/Brazil.
