You know the rumor that EVH played the bass on the VH III album. I'm not a musician, but doesn't the bass on "Without You" sound like it's EVH and not MA.
Thoughts....

Dude, to tell ya the truth, I can't even here the bass on that song unless I strain my ears . . . It's a real shame.
How to make a “Mad Anthony”
2 oz Cabo Wabo® Tequila
1 oz Spicy V8
Juice from a fresh Lime
A generous dollop of Mad Anthony’s Hot Sauce
Combine in a shaker full of ice and shake it up
Pour into shot glass garnished with
a dab of salt
a small slice of lime
a slice of Serrano or Jalapeno chili pepper

In my opinion 3 is Ed's solo album. Its been stated in the past that Sammy fought for Mikey not to be replaced on the albums he did. Its also been stated that Mikey didn't play a lick on VH3 and that Ed had complete control over the whole thing. I figure if its all true. Mikey recorded bass stuff on the albums, but Ed probably re-did them behind his back. Of course this could be all hear say I don't know.

If VH3 is Ed's solo album then can he please go back and rejoin his band because VH3 is a disaster.

I would bet my guitar rig that it's Eddie.

I was always under the impression that it was David Lee Roth who played bass on that record.

Watching Mike trying to pull off playing the tunes from "3" while on tour leads me to think that Edward definately wrote and played the Bass parts while recording "3." I honestly wouldn't doubt if Eddie recorded many of the Bass parts over the years. If I had to guess, I would bet it became standard procedure right around the time of Fair Warning. Certainly once Ed built 5150.......But hey, what the hell do I know?

Awards:
DLR has probably been to Ed's studio in the last few years more than Mike has. Now isn't that a sad statement of events.

I'd bet it's Eddie and not Mike.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with that, listen to the older VH albums and I think you'll appreciate Mike's playing. At least to my ear his playing on those albums seems to be a lot more interesting and my gut says that was all Mikey. Afterall, why would Ed play Mike's bass lines on say VH 1?
Its all fun and games until someone pokes an eye out, then its just fun you can't see!

i dunno.... when i saw the 3 tour in Dallas, Mike pulled off the intro to the solo on without you verbatim....he's a VERY underrated bassist, but i know he can pull off some wild shit on that fretboard!!! personally, i think ed wrote all the music, but i think mikey played his part.

They don't wanna admit that Dave's talent had a shelf life. History proves that.
