Being serious, nobody can call the election at this point. McCain was ahead of Obama after his convention and look what happened. Would have won if the financial crisis didn't hit but he couldn't control that and Obama can't control certain events either. For instance the global economy can take a dive and that would be the end of his term. Or possibly Israel attacks Iran which creates 8 dollar gas. Maybe we join in and he gets a bump in the polls as most sitting presidents do in time of war. Plus you have the debates where people can be influenced one way or the other.

I think Mondale was ahead of Reagan at this time along with Dukokis over Bush. Of course nobody wins because either president won't get anything done since both parties can't understand the concept of compromise.

Nope..sorry, I don't agree. McCain unfortunately didn't stand a chance. Supportes of Bush - be prepared to cringe - however McCain was saddled with WAY too much Bush legacy. The country (rightfully in my opinion) hated Bush - and McCain suffered. Sure, the Palin thing did not help, however to most voters, that was just a nail in the coffin.

McCain SHOULD have won the 2000 convention - however, Bush slandered him, and got the upper hand. Had McCain won the nomination - and the presidency, the world would be a much better place.

SUN VALLEY, Idaho (AP) — Clint Eastwood just made Mitt Romney's day.

The Oscar-winning director and longtime movie star says he's endorsing the Republican presidential candidate.

Eastwood tells The Associated Press that he's backing Romney because, in Eastwood's words, "I think the country needs a boost."

Eastwood was among those attending a Romney fundraiser Friday night in Sun Valley, Idaho.

In February, Eastwood told Fox News that he wasn't supporting any politician at that time. Some saw the "halftime in America" ad he made for the Super Bowl as a nod toward President Barack Obama. Eastwood responded then by saying he was not "politically affiliated" with the president.

Eastwood won Academy Awards for directing and producing "Unforgiven" and "Million Dollar Baby" and starred in those films as well as the Dirty Harry movies.
