Poundcake on BOV1

I was listening to BOV1 last night in the car, and had it really cranking. I noticed something on Poundcake that really made me do a double-take. It's some odd sound at 2:52 on the track. Anybody else hear this? I've got the first pressing version of BOV1, with the screwed up RWTD.

Is this on FUCK, too? I'll have to dig my CD out and check.

Can you DESCRIBE the sound? Glenn was hearing dogs talk to him in Get Up. Was it similar? Are you hearing doggie voices? [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]


While we're at it, at the beginning of Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do) there is an eerie, high-pitched noise buried deep in the mix. Has anyone figured out what it is? A wet finger on a wine glass? A synthesizer? The shrill whining of a very small but deranged and pushy dog? Feedback? Train brakes?

Just listened to both versions. On both, I hear double clicks at 2.51, 2.55, 3.00 and 3.05. Kinda sounds like Charo is jamming with the band. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

I'd never noticed that before, and I have no idea what it is. Good ears MikeL.

To be completely serious, I think it is a doggie voice. I just qued it up again in the truck. I didn't hear a thing the first time, so I turned things up louder. It's a fucking WOOF!

Ok I just now gave it a listen. It's either a "WOOF" or it's an "ooha" by Sammy. Btw, I really have no idea how to actually type these sounds that I think we are hearing. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] But to answer your question Mike, I hear it as well. God are well all not just total Van Halen freaks to be actually be discussing this? LOL. Killer. Out.

Definitely something there but i hear it at 2:48........could be something from Mikey's Bass? Considering how the bass was overdone on the album?

I dunno what it is. It really is buried in the mix. It could be an "ooha" t5, but it's so far down in the sound that I'm not sure. A bit of spit hitting the mic? And yeah, it's hard to type the sound. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]
