I don’t know if these two ever went head to head here before but......Personally I like ‘DITS’ better. ‘PW’ just never did it for me. ......I like Roy’s version (the first 4 million times I heard it) ...... but VH’s version always bugged me. It’s probably the only song that I skip on ‘DD’. The only good thing about ‘PW’ is ‘Intruder’. I like ‘DITS’ ‘cause it’s VH doing Motown, but it is a little cheesy, they've could've picked a better Motown tune. But I’ve always thought Dave’s vocals were killer on that song. I know most people like ‘PW’ better, but what the hell, tell me what you think.
‘DITS’ or ‘PW’?????M*U*L*E

I'd take Dancin' In the Streets on this one. It's just a better song, no matter who is doing it.
But Roy Orbison got me kicked off of Napster, so I'm probably just biased.

No way: Pretty Woman by a LANDSLIDE in my opinion. I HATE Dancing In the Streets (The original version AND the Van Halen version)
Dunno why, but that song buggs me. I almost ALWAYS skip it when I play Diver Down."Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

They're both awesome songs, but I'll take PW, especially because of the Intruder intro.

pretty woman was the tune that got me into VH, (the videoclip) ... and i only found out later, that it was a coversong ... i was pretty young back in the early 80s, u know
dinTS isnt' really vanHalen, it's fun to listen to it sometimes, but nah, i even think that Jagger/Bowie did a more raw cover of DintS, way too pop-ish for classic VH.
so Pretty Woman, again and again, probably their best coversong anyway with u really got me!
how could young EVH produce such an amazing sound with his guitar, anyway? we're not worthy ...
cheers
SToRMdave, we'd like to go upstairs, the two of us, with you ...

We're just the opposite, I can't remember the last time I listened to 'PW' all the way through......except for when I watch the video, that thing is hilarious.M*U*L*E

'PW' really isn't too VH either plus I don't like the way Dave sounds in some areas of that tune.

Jagger/Bowie version was sickening. I still hear VH's version on the radio but I haven't heard the "gay duet" version since the video came out in what '87 or something.

Best cover tune???? Actually I think 'A Apolitical Blues' is their best cover tune, but I'm a blues guy, so of course I'm gonna like that one better. Their best cover tune not on record was 'Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers'. That tune has VH written all over it, but that's a different topic. M*U*L*E

I agree with you seen, 'Big Trouble' should've been on a VH album. Same with 'She's The Woman' & 'Babe Don't Leave Me Alone'
Oh well................M*U*L*E

They couldn't use She's The Woman seeing has that riff was used in the solo for Mean Street and album ago, and they'd have to change some of the the lyrics to Babe Don't Leave Me Alone, because they used some of those in Romeo Delight.
But back the to the subject, both are cool, but I'll take Pretty Woman I am awesome

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>I'm too lazy to check, but isn't it Get The Show On the Road that shares lyrics with Romeo Delight?

I'd have to go with "Dancing in the Street" here. I never put Diver Down on from front to finish because I only like half of the album so I don't know the in's and out's of these 2 songs as well as the other records but I'm pretty sure I'd go with "DITS" here...
To me, "Pretty Woman" just sounds flat. I'm going out on a limb here saying this but I didn't really think Ed's guitar sounded as good as it normally did in this one. It's a little too undistorted and I can't stand the backup vocals. There's also way too much space in the mix as if there was something missing although that's the case with most of that album IMHO.
As far as favorite cover tune goes, mine is probably "You're No Good." I love VHII and think that one totally kicks. Awesome guitar sound, great backup vocals, great guitar solo, DLR sounds good etc.
