When grunge hit, I was still listening to Van Halen, Metallica, Skid Row, and GnR. When Green Day hit in '94, I immediately liked them. I'll admit, I liked some Soundgarden, AIC, and Pearl Jam.

Amen to that. Those three in particular were just great rock ‘n’ roll regardless of what genre anybody puts them in.

Some lesser known Grunge bands were cool too. Like Gruntruck. They were almost "pure grunge" if there ever was such a thing.

The one good thing about Kurt Cobain was his lack of fashion sense. He looked like he came out of a Goodwill store unlike those who wore lipstick, mascara and spandex - and that was just the guys!

I didn’t stop listening to those bands I liked.

But I had no problem seeing the demise of what was left of hair metal. It had run its course, and those newer bands were terrible. And grunge offered something that was much more relatable to me. And frankly, it had some edge and meat to it. Bands that came at the end of the hair metal era offered none of that.

It was weird starting college in 1991. White Lion was playing at a small club 5min from my school. 2nd to last show. I thought they were still like a big deal but there was maybe 150-200 people there. A week later everyone was wearing flannels and shit. I stood firm with my tank tops and camo shorts... 35 year later - same outfit. Lol

Sorry, pointing out the worst of the 80’s rock doesn’t make grunge any better. You’re comparing the worst of one era to the best of the other. Grunge sucked plain and simple. Yes, some Grunge was good, but you can say that about every shitty era. When the holy grail is Nirvana, the era sucks without dispute imo.

Nature's intent is neither food, nor drink, nor clothing, nor comfort, nor anything else in which God is left out.

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly nature seeks, hunts, tries to ferret out the track on which God may be found. . .

Grunge was not something I got into besides a few tunes. As I have gotten older, I ‘ve appreciated it a bit more….but not that much more.
