Ed got at it at the end. That's what matters I think. I also love how they went into Waitin' for the Bus by ZZ Top. Too bad the video cut out.

I think it's interesting that Ed started by playing other people's music - they knew 200 covers in the early club days, played 5 sets a night. Templeman capitalized on that and had them release many covers songs, up to Diver Down. But at the same time, Ed realized he didn't have to do that, he could just play his own songs, Van Halen songs. His calling in life was creating Van Halen music. Not playing covers, not improvising. EVH wasn't the best in every possible situation. He was the best when playing Van Halen songs.

But when VH played covers, they certainly made them their own.

Eddie wasn't the best in every situation because his focus was on writing and playing Van Halen's music. I truly believe he could play anything that he truly set his mind to and wanted..to play. He wasn't a big acoustic guitar guy, but made that look easy in limited samples (see Spanish Fly, New World, "Could This Be Magic"), oh and used a slide for the 1st time on "Could This Be Magic". He didn't play pure blues music, but he could when/if he wanted to and do it quite well- listen to any club days bootleg, his solo in "When It's Love" and "Right Now" oozes blues and soul, his jam with Alex on the 1984 and 5150 tours, his vibrato and bends alone. Listen/see his mimicking of Page and Beck for example, his work on the Starfleet album- yes Starfleet. Yes, he seemingly needs to be in a real comfort zone to do those things, but I believe he does them quite well in general under the right circumstances. I have no doubt that if he wanted to go in a different direction on his own, he could have over time with practice.
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

Would have been cool to see EVH and VH perform a few more Beatles tunes. And because Paperback Writer is my fave -- that would have been a trip.

Nature's intent is neither food, nor drink, nor clothing, nor comfort, nor anything else in which God is left out.

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly nature seeks, hunts, tries to ferret out the track on which God may be found. . .

Damn, a long time ago I downloaded a clip of that from, I want to say Napster! Started at about 25 seconds and went to about where they kicked back in to YRGM. Always found that clip amusing.
