Reading about Ted just shows how important a good producer is. He weeds out the crap that the musician has fallen in love with.

SGMAD and YR and his influence on those songs are prime examples of how important Ted was to VH, and that they simply weren't as good without him in the studio.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

What one can say is that VH, intelligently, didn't go farther than that. Even at the height of the keyboard trend, they never went past 3 keyboard tunes. OU812 stabilized things with also 3 keyboard tunes. And then starting with FUCK, guitar tunes increased again.
I agree with that, 1984 was definitely the bridge to the newer sound.

But i was comparing the two eras, where you had Cradle will rock, then Why can't this be love?

Those original SGMAD opening chords, were too happy sounding.
    Too good-timey.

You need the girth of what ended up on the album, because the riff that follows is so deadly.

Ted also nixed Dave's use of the word "Jive" in "Fools."

He said: Unless, you're Tom from the Jeffersons, i don't wanna hear dated 70's lingo.

Yankee Rose. He convinced them to simplify the riffs to make it catchier, which Vai admitted isn't his thing, but he also admitted it made the song better.

Lol, well I was wrong, too. Turns out DD was talking about Yankee Rose.

I havent read Ted's book, so I was just guessing.
