That's awesome feedback. They mostly were drawn from basement tapes so was not created to fit into the catalog just stuff he liked personally

Diamond Dave is easily Dave's worst recorded vocals ever IMO.

That said, I own two copies on vinyl.

I absolutely LOVE Dave's cover songs. He's turned me on to so many other songs I never would have heard before. And he's so fuckin' "cool" he makes them better.

That said, surprisingly most of the songs on that album were my least favorite I've heard from him, including all of his unreleased.

Loved "Shoo Bop" and "Stay While the Night Is Young," but rest I only liked a little and would've preferred other songs he did from that time from the Bar-B-Que and the Radio Rodeo Tour, like "Shine a Little More," "Baker Street," and "Tin Cup Chalice."

Still loved it though and think it's cool Dave just chose his personal favorites.

I actually strongly disagree. I think DLR Band, while the superior album, is his worst recorded studio vocals. Worst vocals overall is Tokyo Dome, hands down.

He should have left Thug Pop off of Diamond Dave, I will agree with you there that the vocals are pretty bad on that one. But everywhere else, I think they are great.

Darrin, Dave's just gotta put out a box set of all those covers he's apparently done. Who cares if it doesn't sell well--nothing does!

Making songs his own is like "his thing!" He's one of the elite in that category. Needs to be released for legacy purposes at least. He already is a legend, but there's more to him than just VH.

No. He didn't actually sing. He just did a walk on stage thingy. I think he had a bottle of JD & one of the pics shows him taking a slug. There's several photographs taken by Mike Romaro.

At the Billy Squier show he sang Stroke Me duet. They wore matching Billy Squier T Shirts & did the bump dance together. Not kidding. Lady that was there said it was kinda...um...*cough, cough,* ...well you know....

A big VH fan in Los Angeles who is a photographer said he has audio recording of it. But he is a selfish hoarder.
