I really dig this Sammy tune. I know EVH helped Sammy produce it, but did EVH play the bass on this song as well?

Achievements:
Ed played the bass on the entire release.
Ed also added some guitar work on "Eagles Fly".

It's one of my favorites on I Never Said Goodbye. It would have been cool to hear it live with the whole band other than just Sammy on acoustic guitar. Kind of like how they joined in at the end of Eagles Fly on the Balance tour.

Never Said Goodbye was a pretty good album in my opinion. Kinda wish it had been released by Van Halen in place of OU812 but thats how the chips fall.

I think a song that echoed the sentiment of Give to Live, but that worked better all around, is Both Sides Now from Marching to Mars. Good groove, a chorus you can really hum, and no silly acoustic business. Come to think of it, I like most of Marching to Mars.

I'm with you Baron, I really dig Marching to Mars. Really don't care for alot on Never Said Goodbye, not Sam's best solo work in my opinion. Better than that turdball Not 4 Sale, but nothing like MTM, 1013, Voodoo, Hampton, etc.

One more thing, Give to Live is a dud in concert. There are rockin acoustic songs live and ones that put you to sleep. Didn't like it live last summer, didn't like it when VH played it on the FUCK tour, its a beer break song. Last summer it was like Moses was parting the red sea when he played that, the momentum he had generated up to then went THUD and half the crowd went to take a piss!

I agree Give To Live live is a good song however it just didn't belong at a VH concert. There are some great songs off Not 4 Sale like The Big Square Inch which Is fucking awesome.Marching To Mars was brilliant and deserved to be a much more marketed album.

Marching To Mars is pretty damn awesome. Hagar made a good decision when he decided to release a new album of material after the door closed on Van Halen. I thought Never Say Goodbye(or Sammy Hagar as the copy I own says) was pretty good. Typically late 80s album. Kind of a let down from VOA and 5150 but still good in its own right.

Sammy's releases after VH are all cool.If only he hadn't of split with VH.There was just so much potential for more killer music to record with the brothers.

I've always liked Give To Live ever since I first listened to it on RHRN. I think OU812 would have been stronger if they would've added some of the songs off of I Never Said Goodbye or had VH redo some of his earlier songs.

I like this tune on Live Hallelujah with Wabos. Great song indeed. Actually when I was young (like if I ain't now, but anyway
) while listening to RHRN I thought it was EVH playing accoustic.

Never Say Goodbye is my favorite Sam solo album. It's got that fun "5150" type vibe. Hammer Falls, Privacy, Boy's Night Out, - all great songs. Sam plays great guitar - especially the slide on Crossroads and Eddie sneaks in some awesome bass. Give it another listen.
Rack of what?
