i"ve disscussed vh 3 on the songs albums forum and i still agree, it is good vh album, but what i really want to no! is cant stop loving you, firstly (a) better song than any other on vh3, (b)is it van halen song!. i"ll tell you "unchained" "d.o.a" "ain"t talking about love" must be turning in there grave!

can't stop loving you ranks with my least favorite VH songs of all time. 3 is certainly better than that IMO, and i skip over how many say i less often. it might be the cheesiest sammy song of all time, and that's saying a lot.
eddie's 'shimmery' guitar sound doesn't help.

Can't stop is one of my favorites just because it isn't the usual formula. I actually like the guitar sound on that one. Same for Mine all Mine, different and cool.

Mine All Mine is one of my favorites, and not done in concert enough. I'm all for doing something different, but CSLY bugs me.

Can't stop loving you is a cheesy ballad. However, it is a good song if you like ballads. I know my wife loves the song, but I skip it whenever I listen to Balance.

Everytime I hear it though, it makes me laugh, not because its such a cheesy love song. But because it reminds of good times with friends. At the time it came out my best friend and I were both single and dateless. So by coincidence whenever we were driving to go out, that song would come on the radio, and we'd sing it to each other, and laugh about how lame we were. Now we're both married. If a song has a story it will always be cool no matter how lame it really is.

CSLY was probably the first song I really noticed. I grew up in a house where "Rock" wasn't really smiled upon but pop radio was. I remember hearing CSLY and loving it. Now I tend to skip over it mainly because I feel that putting that song between Seventh Seal and Don't Tell Me is probably the worst sequencing call on any VH album. If I listen to that song on it's own it's not bad.

Still an example of good solid songwriting, and as rightfully pointed out above better than anything on the confused mess of VH3

I totally agree. While CSLY is definitely not a great song, its biggest problem is its placement. Seventh Seal comes roaring out of the speakers, beats your brains in, and then CSLY immediately drags the album to a stop. What the fuck were they thinking with that sequencing?

I think Not Enough is a better song period, but it also benefits from better placement on the record. No way should the second song have been a ballad like that. Even if they insisted on slowing it down a bit after the first tune, they should have put Take Me Back second. It's a great song and has a cool vibe to it.

you guys are right about the sequencing. maybe they put it up front because they felt it needed to be there as their "pop hit." i like the suggestion of take me back instead.

I'm moody when it comes to CSLY. Sometimes I listen, other times I skip. As others have mentioned, sequencing probably has a lot to do with it.

That said, it seems to sound better when I'm driving. Go figure.

I think you really have to listen to it to really appreciate Ed's work in this one. The fact that he effortlessy made it work. Any guitar players/ songwriters out there don't listen to it as a VH song, listen to it by itself. I'll give you the placement probably could've been better, but I still love it.
