from Andrew over at Melodicrock.com

PLANET US ADD SECOND GUITARIST – GUESS WHO'S IN!!:
Planet Us have been in and out of the news since the initial news broke about the band's formation.
Lately it seemed that the news was a little less positive, but something is about to happen that will get these guys back in the spotlight and hopefully be the first step towards a full studio album being released.
Rumors are circulating that the band have added a second guitarist. The spot was initially abandoned after Slash decided against joining Sammy Hagar, Neal Schon, Michael Anthony & Deen Castronovo in the line-up.
The line-up will apparently make it's debut on Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas' scheduled appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show Rockline this Wednesday.
Sammy and band will be performing live in the studio and will bring in a "very special guest". Well, that guest will be Planet Us, complete with their new guitarist Joe Satriani!
As for the future of Van Halen, they haven't call ed it quits, but don't hold your breath for new music. The word I have is that it could be at least another 12 months before the band kick into gear again. There's an interesting post over at VHForums.com that may give some hint of what's (not) happening."

Now if Satiani joins Planet Us, all I would have to say is: Holy Shitballs Batman Now that would be a band full of ringers. I saw Satriani ~5 years ago in B-more and he blew the roof off the dump a.k.a. Hammerjacks.

So what have we lwarned from this post? Sammy want to be in a band, with Mike playing bass, and a great guitar virtuoso on lead. Eddie- get of your ass and take a hint. We shouldn't have to wait 12 months.
Man, all I can do is make music and put it out, and if people like it, they like it, and if they don't, they will sooner or later.- EVH

Damn that would be sweet. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because it could all go away in an instant but good lord that would be a kick ass CD.

With that being the closest thing to VH we may get, I'll take it for now. It won't be the same, but it should still be pretty damn good. Now, I'm a lot more excited about Planet Us than I was before

This should be interesting, to say the least!

If ever there was a Eddie clone...Joe Satriani is it! And I mean that in a good way. I love the man's work. Very, very talented musician. His songwriting is very unique.
i.e. how he uses the guitar to sing the lyrics. I can't wait to see how it all meshes together!
"Keep honking buddy. I'm reloading..." -The Mard

"......HEY!.............alright............." -BIG FOOT

" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!

But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!-

Pretty Interesting
EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If there’s something I can’t deal with, I can just spend hours playing. It’s a God-given gift – I certainly don’t know where the ideas come from. They’re obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

That's a hell of a free agent pickup for the Planet Us team. I'd like to see this band get going and release some music.

No disrespect to Andrew, but this is just how each "news item" regarding Planet Us has gone over the past few months. I'm sure that getting these guy's schedules to mesh must be hard, but if both Journey and Sam are planning summer tours this year, then a Planet Us album would seem like it would be rushed then.
If I can't get new VH then Planet Us I guess would be the next best thing. But Satch is a "solo" guy. Why do they need 3 guitar players? Neil can hold his own as a lead and Sammy is more than an adequate rythym player.

I don't just my feeling on this whole thing. If this Planet Us thing actually happens I will be very surprised.
