i know im new here, however ive been involved with music for a while myself.im a percussionist.ive marched with a couple of semi grade drum cores, etc. my point is eddie'splaying on three is outstanding to say the least.granted it wasnt your typical van halen style nontheless, it was van halen.i see u guys posting dave or the grave, but in honesty without al,ed and mike there is no van halen.gary interpretation to music is differ from dave and sams way.but i would haft to say vh3 was a brillant album.the variety of composition used alone in a song like once would leave a lot of cover bands guessing just how to attempt it.face it fellas, rarely was the album in four four timing, and that is why it didnt fit!

Yeah, I can't argue with that. It was a pretty well written album. It was just too much of a change for them, it wasn't the band we knew and grew up with.

I have a lot of respect for what a "Peter Gabriel" does.......but if a Peter Gabriel fan bought the latest and greatest from Pete and it sounded like Van Halen.......that album would not meet that fans expectations..........so VH3 didn't meet most VH fans expectations......it wasn't what we were used to.

With that being said........I like VH3......thought the tour was awesome with Gary......but there was a part of me that craved the fun side of Sammy and the "fuck you" attitude of DLR.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

3 had its moments, but the production was terrible and Gary's voice sounded strained. If you really enjoyed it that much though...I say great. I'd love to have another Van Halen album I enjoy as much as Diver Down or VHI.

lol. that's the silliest opinion i've heard about this album yet.

the composition are ponderous, boring and juvenile even though they may be technically superior to most pop stuff on the market.

they tried to 'write songs' instead of have it 'sound right' and ended up somewhere between a shithole and joe satriani. overcomplicated, overproduced, wannabe crap you never heard from these guy b4.

we all heard what they were trying to do, technically eds palaying is always awsome, but musically this is just incopetent. it really really really really really needs editing in places, namely they need to edit out Gary - theres a huge difference 'it sounds right' and 'it's technically correct'. It sounded right with Roth (even though some may not have liked the era), it sounded right with Sammy (even though some may not have liked the era). Gary is a very humble and talented guy, but let's face it, this stuff just doesn't sound right at all, anywhere on the cd except for ed's solo.
