Sammy to write songs for The Matrix Sequels?

I found this on "Countingdown.com":
"According to University Wire, Sammy Hagar will provide songs for The Matrix sequels."

Anyone else hear anything on this? I'm not sure if Sammy is capable of providing music to support The Matrix Sequels. Just doesn't seem like a good musical choice to support this franchise.

On the other hand, I'm sure Eddie would be able to kick out some hard driving, sound crunching yet subtle and melodic tunes for Neo & Trinity to kick ass too.

i heard earlier in the year that the brothers (Matrix producers whose last name i can't spell lol) asked Prince to do the music for the next two...don't know how true that is, either.

I'm not sure if this is true. The last I heard was that they were going for more of a hip-hop soundtrack than the last one's industrial/electronica vibed soundtrack. You never know, though.

Having Sammy do a couple songs isn't a bad idea. If some folks are afraid his music isn't appropriate, there are many songs on soundtracks that have bit parts in the movie. Some don't appear until the credits (ie "Respect The Wind"). With 'Serious Juju', Sammy did show a different side to him so maybe he has more to offer.

As for the FH’s comment on Sammy suing, I think you meant Dave. He’s the one who is suing to make ends meat these days since he can’t get a record deal or seem to get back with Van Halen after three freakin’ times already.

Bash all you want on Sammy, but it seems apparent that the music industry likes to do business with Sammy rather than Dave.

Who knows, maybe Dave can sell his “No Holds Barbecue” project in the form of a view master?
