Hey Folks! I've been here daily pretty much since Gary left the band in '99. Been a VH fan for the past 20 years (I'm thirty one). Just like everyone else here, I consider myself to be a fan of the band and have followed them closely for the past 15 years or so. I've really enjoyed this site, and think that for the most part, it's grown into a great place to visit every day. Thanks to recent events, the World has changed quite a bit in the last 6 months or so, and so have I. To celebrate my change for the better in the last 6 months. I'm decided to give the two Sammy era CD's that I've refused to listen to until now a shot! Maybe I'll love 'em maybe I'll hate 'em but they'll stll be here so I'll probably tell my friends at VH links about the results. (Yep, pun intended!). Anyway folks, I'm in a great mood this Saturday morning and todays gonna be a great day for me, and you people too ( I hope!). Apologies to all cynics and those I've caught in a bad mood. Oh yea, the two albums I'll be reconsidering are Balance and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. And by the way, If the Roth/Hagar thing is for real, I'll be there regardless!
Keep Rockin' Linkers!!!!

Feel free to move this thread at anytime Mods!....

FUCK and Balance feature some of Van Hagar's worst songs ever written, produced, recorded, and performed.

Here's a list:

Spanked
In n Out
Man on a Mission
The Seventh Seal
Can't Stop Loving You
Not Enough
Take Me Back

Van Hagar was going down at this point.

5150 is the best Van Hagar album.

Nothing like me and old Vinnie Velvet, getting into a pissing match over Sammy Era........but Vinnie is correct on some of his choices here.

Spanked
In n Out
Man on a Mission

Are total pieces of shit.........

As Vinnie knows , I like Balance a lot.....so his opinions on the other tunes.......well, we'll just agree to disagree.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I love Balance, the guitar sound is friggin amazing. Something for everyone on that album. I hope you dig it, Soup.

I wish we'd retire the use of the word cheese. If a song isn't balls to the wall rock or happens to have the word love in it it's called cheese. C'mon!!! Van Halen with Sammmy was not cheese. FUCK and Balance are two great records. Poundcake, Judgment Day, Aftershock, Top of the World, Seventh Seal are all great tracks.

I agree with Mario. I never heard people call things cheese until I came to this site! I never use that stupid term. I say something is good, or it sucks.

Lead Synth,
5150 is an awesome album. IMHO, Balance is way cheesier than 5150. Nothing on Balance can compare to the song 5150, with Eddies guitar work and Sammy singing his ass off.

Both are good albums in my opinion. I like FUCK better because of the production done by Ted T. and Andy Johns. The drum sound is absolutely huge on FUCK. Although, the song 'Man on a Mission' is very, very weak. On Balance, 'Aftershock' and 'Amsterdam' are my favorites.

What! Are you kidding LS? What the hell is cheesy about songs like "Get Up" "Summer Nights" "Best of Both Worlds" and "5150"? I think maybe you have been drinking a little too much on your birthday, but then again who hasn't.

IMO, VH with Sammy albums get worse as you go down the line. 5150 was the best. Balance was the worst.

I like all of the Sammy stuff with Van Halen. However, my least favorite Sammy with VanHalen album is OU812...

p dog, get up is shit though.

anyway, as far as shit songs on the albums in question, here goes...

spanked (this is by far the most dreadful song ever)

man on a mission

can't stop loving you (although i admit if you're tryin to "woo" a girl, then blast away)

big fat money

all the boring instrumentals on balance (baluchitherium isn't boring though, that's a good one)

but the rest are good, decent, at worst, anyway. that's all in my opinion of course.
