SAMMY HAGAR: VAN HALEN Has Fallen Completely Apart - May 21, 2002
Former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar told the syndicated radio show Rockline this week that the Van Halen brothers Eddie and Alex were initially approached last year to stage a tour with both former frontmen, but they rejected the idea.
"I think if they could do anything right now they would have done it," Hagar said. "No one has heard anything, they don't have a record deal, they've just fallen completely apart. Why, I don't know. I think it's the worst thing that could have ever happened to one of the greatest rock bands in the world."
In other news, Eddie Van Halen made a rare public appearance this weekend at the annual LAPD Celebrity Golf Charity. When asked by a fan at the event if there were any chance of joining Hagar and/or fellow ex-VAN HALEN singer Dave Lee Roth on stage during the pair's upcoming appearance at the Universal Amphitheatre, he reportedly replied, "Are you kidding me, after both of those guys left the band?!"

Ya know, technically he is probably correct. They probably did leave the band. It is kind of like marriage. If the bitch won't get off the fucking couch, you get tired of it and wanna move on. She gets to keep the kids (the band) and you have to start all over. Talk about other people's realities. I am just about fucking sick of this shit. Eddie Van Halen is on another fucking planet. Good gawd y'all, sorry about that! Frustration boiling over. I am just about to hang up my fandom and hopes for the future of Van HALEN. After that, since they have strung me along for so long, I think they can just go fuck themselves.

Sorry about all the cursing :-( I am just tired of being strung along as is everyone else. Didn't mean to add to all of the negativity. I, however, am becoming less of a fan of the almighty VH. It is rather obvious they do not care what we the fans want. That is fine, but taking me a while to come to reality on the subject. I am not a fan of Sam, don't dislike him, just not a fan, but at least he is out there giving those fans a taste of the almighty VH. I only wish I could see Dave again this year :-(

No, Execute, you're not way off base.
Eddie has lost it. Forget about Van Halen, they're done.
No manager, no tour guy, no singer, no nothing.

Achievements:
Sammy sure does'nt paint a very good picture of the Van Halen camp. I appreciate his insight to the band. I would say he is "tapped-in" still with the Mike Anthony connection.
Pretty much as I suspected : no singer, no contract, no manager, it seems its just Ed, Al, and some lawyers.
Sad, very sad !!

The situation with both Dave & Sammy as it relates to Ed & Al (Mikey is smart enough to not take sides, at least publicly) is very much like a marriage that started out great and ended badly. I can appreciate your comments about Ed ignoring what the fans want. However, you need to consider this. If you and your spouse get divorced, the first thing you want to do is begin to move on with your life. Even if your family and friends continually tell you that they really loved your ex-spouse and that they want you to get back together with that person are you going to do it? No, of course not becasue it is not what is going to make you happy. So why would Ed and Al want to relive the past with DLR (for a third time) and Sammy (for a second go around)? is it going to make them happy as people? As musicians? The answer to both of these questions is apparently a resounding NO! Why would Ed & Al attempt to make music that didn't truly inspire them and excite them especially with people they don't particularly care for? For that matter, why would Sammy and Dave even want to work the brothers again?
At this point it would be nice to see everyone bury the hatchet and at very least be cordial to one another. That needs to happen before either/both former frontmen would/should work with Ed and Al again. Maybe they could work out a possible "reunion" tour as a final exclamation point on the Van Halen legacy, to end it as we know it and love it on a high note. These guys are better than KISS and shouldn't milk the fans of their money with lies and B.S. (Gene and Paul treated Ace and Peter like garbage and now more than ever Gene Simmons has revealed himself to be a greedy slob, not a musician who does it for the love of the music. He does it for the love of money.) After the above mentioned reunion tour relase it on CD & DVD and then move on into the future.
Anyway after the way DLR and Sammy spoke about Ed on Howard Stern I would rather see Gary back. he doesn't seem to be bitter about his former employers.

I'd like to hear another cd with Gary. Just let someone else produce the vocals....keep Ed away from the knobs!

I quote the following bit of political intrigue from the heart of Scottland. Gary was CLEARLY let into van DANIELLS (another SCOTTSMAN - no coincidence there) to DETRACT WORLD ATTENTION from SCOTTISH POLITICAL SCANDAL.
In the coming weeks I will be educating you SHEEP about SCOTTISH POLITICS. The link between VAN HALEN and SCOTTISH POLITICS is UNDENIABLE and I am TOTALLY on topic here. I am STILL mad about the scottish national election of 1966. Angus Mcflintlock won that election fair and square and every Scottish politician since then has been TAINTED by this scandal.
The $tarks$ crew can only get away with their sheep shit for so long! IF IT'S NOT ROTH IT'S KRAAAAP! And I'll pound yer little sheep ears if you say otherwise..don't fuck with dale mckoppin!
Why are you SHEEP so NAIVE to the ways of CROOKED SCOTTISH POLITICIANS?
You can thank me later...
The Observer newspaper, whose investigation exposed the scandal, has likened it to the row that blew up around Labour Party aide Derek Draper some months ago, and redolent of the "sleaze" allegations that dogged the previous Tory administration, which contributed to their 1997 electoral collapse.
Scotland's "lobbygate" has undermined the democratic illusions built up around the new parliament and exposed the sordid reality of the Blair Labour government's Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme.
On August 31, in the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Ben Laurance from the Observer newspaper posed as a representative of principally American investors during discussions with Kevin Reid and Alex Barr of the public relations firm Beattie Media. Reid is the 24-year-old son of John Reid, Scotland's Secretary of State. The Observer's investigation followed rumours that lobbying companies were increasingly targeting the Scottish executive, touting for business.
The latest row is not an aberration, however. Labour's programme of devolved government is aimed at enabling the greater exploitation of Britain's regions and their workforces by the transnational corporations and global money markets. The Scottish parliament was meant to facilitate these relations by establishing closer, direct links between local politicians and big business. Reid and Barr were simply acting on that mandate.

Y'know, when I first saw the name, I did a double take, then said, "NAAAAAW"...
...only to have my initial suspicions confirmed on reading the post.
Well, hey - it's less obvious than that CHEVY guy was, anyway. I'll be watching with great interest to see how this particular plate of haggis sells...Edward Van Halen lives forever.

You have been misspelling "Scotland." If you really lived there, you think you would know how to spell it.
You also just misspelled you name (mckoppin).

Before Dale McKoppen goes all William Wallace on us, I will try to steer the topic back on track.
I still listen to the entire VH back-catalog, and can recall the former days of glory. However, you can only listen to an album so many times before you burn it out. I've exhausted my VH collection. It's all nostalgia now.
VH is done, and what a sad, whimpering end it came to...Give me ambiguity or give me something else!
