Cherone To Sing National Anthem

November 6, 2001 - Former Van Halen vocalist Gary Cherone will be singing the National Anthem before the Boston Celtics vs Washington Wizards basketball game at the Fleet Center in Boston, MA tomorrow night.

US viewers can watch the game at 8PM EST on TNT. Australian viewers can see it live on Fox Sports at midday on Thursday EDT. Everyone else - check your local guides.

tojonline.com, the official site of Gary's new band Tribe of Judah, reports that he will sing at 7pm so his performance may not be included in the live broadcast.

The game will see the return of Michael Jordon to Boston.

About five minutes till 7 o'clock central. I guess he's warming up about now. I always wanted to see Sammy do this, when his voice was in it's prime 84-91. I wonder how they'll identify Gary.

Just watched it. Gary has the short-hair look he had with VH. He hasn't put on any weight either. It wasn't great. He sang it soft pretty much the whole way. Went for a couple of big notes, but it wasn't spectacular.

They did announce him as the former lead singer to "Extreme" and "Van Halen". I'm sure many in attendance probably looked at each other and said, "Van Halen?" [img]smilies/scared.gif[/img]

Thanks for the updates. Here's a thought/suggestion: why not have Eddie play the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl? Hell of a way to show the world that he's alive and kickin'.
