Enjoyed it, more Jason Bourne than a super hero movie.

The wife and I had our first dinner and a movie date night in more than a year. It's crazy because that used to be our go to.

This is M Night Shyamalan's new movie and we both enjoyed it. The trailer basically gives away the whole premise of the movie, so I don't think this is a spoiler: people find themselves on a secluded beach and are aging rapidly. Like his other movies, he walks that line of horror/thriller really well and the movie is constantly moving. The camera work is purposely disorienting at times which conveys the characters' emotions well. The cast of characters are pretty basic, but there's enough variety in them to show the different aspects of aging which can range from humorous, to sad, to scary.

The only surprising thing about this movie is that it gives away the ending really early in the movie. While not explicitly spelled out, you can draw enough conclusions from what's going on to make the ending more than obvious. Considering this is a Shyamalan film, it's almost like he went out of his way to avoid the twist ending so many of us have come to expect. My wife thought that maybe the ending could have been made better if they didn't overtly hint at some of these things early on (and I might agree), but maybe he felt like he needed to hint at it enough for people to start painting the picture themselves to make it more palatable at the end.

Either way, it was great to be back at the movies and sitting in an actual theater paying an absurd amount of money on popcorn and soda.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Lol, I took seven people to dinner and a movie last night. I've spent less on a car payment.

Michael Mann’s Last Of The Mohicans. I’d only seen it once before when it was originally in theaters almost 30 years ago so it was pretty fresh this time around. Great movie with an awesome soundtrack score.

    Escape From L.A.

Something made me want to watch this again after looking for Kurt Russel movies and seeing that it's 25 years old this year. Fuck... time flies.

Still absolute action adventure cheese. So very bad that it's almost good... but still very bad. I saw this in the theater in 2006 and remember how horrible the SFX and CGI animation looked on screen. The almost duplicate story from New York doesn't help things either.

Kurt was a producer and co-writer, so he was definitively in the know on how silly it all was. "...call me ssSnack!" Lol!

I really wish they would have made the Escape From Cleveland movie that they keep referring to here.

Best moment... Pam Grier as Jack 'Carjack' Malone (Hershe)... now that was some good movie fun right there.

Hard to believe that this cost 50 million in 2006... then only grossed half of that. Yikes!

Escape From New York Cost 6 million in 1981 and grossed 25 million at the box office. Wow!

watched "Lethal Weapon" a few nights ago - can't believe how much Anthony Kiedis' dad stuck out in his scene. Made me think that after the Red Hot Chili Peppers got known, they should've had Anthony do a similar scene in one of the later ones - Riggs could've done a double take or something

Before the movie M Night came on the screen with a message basically saying this is how his movies are meant to be seen and he's was glad people were able to experience it that way again and welcoming the audience back. I thought that was cool.

John Krasinski did the same thing before A Quiet Place II.

Batman: The Long Halloween Part One

Not bad. Maybe a little slow and drawn out... but well done with beautiful animation and voice work.

Jensen Ackles is really good as Bruce/Batman. Where the hell did that booming voice come from? Lol!

It's been years since I read the graphic novel, so I've forgotten who Holiday is (the person murdering everyone)... but if I recall... it's more about the lead up to who it is over the actual killer.

This is early in Batman's career and you'll notice that his detective skills are not particularly well honed.
