Awards:
They need to retire Dr. Strange. Too much of Spider-Man: No Way Home was given over to his magic bullshit.

Robot Overlords 2015
Kind of a clunky mess but fun just the same. One of the four kids is achingly annoying.
Reminded me of a 1950's Sci Fi movie plot with a modern cast. SFX were pretty decent.
Gillian Anderson is gorgeous, but there just isn't enough of her in her small Mom role... and Ben Kingsley is Ben Kingsley as he is in 1000 other movies he's done.

Something I've noticed in several films lately is what I perceive to be a rampant overwhelming display of glamorizing Cigarette Smoking.
House Of Gucci
Great movie. I love the clothes. Al Pacino cool as always.
But, damn near every scene almost all the characters are smoking....
Nightmare Alley with Bradley Cooper
Very cool suspenseful interesting film. Just watched last night.
Also- Non stop smoking. Almost every scene....
The God Committee, with Kelsey Grammer
Deep introspective original story. I liked it.
But- Also, Kelsey Grammer's character portraying a well respected top Doctor is frequently smoking. Marlboro's.
I personally, would have very serious reservations if I found out my doctor smoked cigarettes.
POINT- Of this post is to point out my suspicions that perhaps the cigarette company's are possibly secretly advertising in certain films.
I can't be the only one that's noticed this.
House Of Gucci. Damn near every scene someone is smoking. Frequently see Marlboro packages.

The recent Julia series on HBOmax had lot of the characters that were smoking. It all seemed pretty accurate to me for a series depicting the mid 1960's.
I think there were a few years after 1998 where smoking was almost wiped out of TV and movies... and it was unrealistic that some of the characters were not lighting up.
Found this CNN article... but there are polls, research, studies and statistics geeks much more adept that will probably whitewash this movie thread with enough info that our eyes will glass over.
On-screen smoking in PG-13 films has doubled since 2010, CDC says
https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/01/healt...20on%20tobacco.
TV & movies need smoking... it's just unrealistic when omitted.

I'd have to say House of Gucci and Nightmare alley are pretty period specific movies and the smoking was just part of real life.
I don't know about the God Committee since I haven't seen it, but from what I just read about it, smoking would seem to be just one of Grammer's characters flaws.
+ How did I never hear about The God Committee or House of Gucci... directed by fucking Ridley Scott with fucking Al Pacino... until the midnight rambler posted about them???![]()
...but Adam Driver and Jared Leto in the same film... ouch!![]()

Top Gun: Maverick will be my next movie...
https://www.france24.com/en/culture/...top-gun-sequel
Tom Cruise touched down in Cannes on Wednesday to launch "Top Gun: Maverick", making his first appearance in three decades at the world's premier film festival and cementing his status as a champion of the big screen.
Cannes waited 30 years for Tom Cruise to return – so a 12-hour wait in the Riviera’s scorching sun was no hassle for Tania Lopez-Palayo, first in line to catch a glimpse of Hollywood’s last great superstar as he hit the red carpet.
When Cruise was last in Cannes for the premiere of the ill-fated "Far and Away" with his then-wife Nicole Kidman, he was just one among many in the Hollywood star system. Thirty years on, he is the only one who can compete with the superhero franchises that now dominate the studios.
In the words of IndieWire, he is “the last Hollywood movie star of his kind – short as ever but still larger-than-life in an age where most famous actors are only as big as their action figures.”
“Tom Cruise has one of the highest success rates in the history of cinema,” Cannes director Thierry Fremaux told reporters. “This is someone that we haven't seen on streaming platforms, TV series, or doing adverts (…). He is someone who is devoted to cinema. To see Tom Cruise, you have to see a feature film in a cinema theatre.”
