Don't know why, but I always thought Mothra was the bad guy.

Went to watch Romulus but ended up at the start instead. Kinda boring after you've seen it a few times over the years, but now I found myself picking up details that are used later in the franchise.

I'm no purveyor of this series but I find them all watchable, good or bad. Kinda of like Terminators.
Disagree. Alien maintains its greatness because it holds up pretty well, and it's a pretty well written movie. It's very cerebral for a sci-fi horror movie. Unlike Aleins, it's not built around cheesy one liners, hate for the military and "child in peril" tropes. Aliens is good, but its more typical action movie fodder.

Ha! I've got Aliens on in the background now and even with no sound I find that group of Marines really annoying.

Maybe this should be in the music forums but watched the MAX documentary on Yacht Rock. While I am a fan of it (always dug the Dobbie Brothers) I didn't know there is a difference with the format and some other bands that get lumped in. Didn't know the term was founded by MySpace site in the early 2000's. Also didn't know Steely Dan really is the Genesis of the genre.

Good documentary though. Its interesting that the genre faced a Nirvana moment with the coming of MTV. While I know Christopher Cross was a casualty of MTV, didn't really think of how it impacted other artists who didn't adjust

    Anyway worth checking out

Saw that. It's kind of a joke though, the whole "yacht rock" thing. So I didn't necessarily see the need for a 90 minute doc about it. But, there I was watching it. LOL

Yeah, I thought it was an interesting point regarding the MTV impact and how it effected those artists.

I wouldn't consider Toto on that group. I mean I'm not a big fan of theirs, but just never lumped them in with the rest. But, whatever.

Btw, how could they mention all the guests on MJ's Thriller album and NOT mention EVH. I know they were focusing on Toto's members' guest spots, but Lukather was in the doc so I thought of course he'll mention Eddie. Nope.

I actually enjoyed it, and I went in thinking I would hate it. I don't like the leads, and of course, all the men in the movie are weak little idiots. But the story, and the acting of the two leads was enjoyable, and I much as I don't like them personally, it didn't detract from the movie, and they can sing their asses off.

Yeah I was waiting for the Eddie call out but none came. I am glad they mentioned how Christopher Cross subbed for Richie Blackmore. People don't realize he was the original owner of SRV's guitar. I was wondering how they were going to fill 90 minutes too but at the end I wanted more. My only issue with the show is they had some guy complaining about white musicians. Not sure why that was necessary.

I did like the part how Yacht Rock was used to sample in hip hop.

In the Christmas music thread, I said it ain't Christmas until I hear Burl Ives.

Movies? It ain't Christmas until I've seen Scrooge - Albert Finney. Of only two musicals I can watch. The other being Willie Wonka and not that Burton abomination
