work with me here folks...
how long do you think vh has to get their shit together with roth? as far as time goes...when do you think the line will be drawn? how long are they willing to wait? do they want dave? do they want someone else? do they wanna do anything?
i say if we have no news from the band by jan 1st 2002, then chances are slim to none we will ever see vh again.
this is taking way too long, something has got ta be wrong...

Caution - I am NOT an insider...I do know a person who is a buyer for a large retailer here in Canada - as a favor he asked is WB rep if and when Van Halen would come out with a new album - unless the rep is completely mis-informed - Van Halen, according to their WB contract owes them a record prior to the end of 2001. So - if all holds true - that would be the timeline.
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

Achievements:
Prior to the end of 2001 ? If its all new material; they wont make that, its already July.
I could see them trying to get an extension into next year.
Unless, Unless Ed the boys are farther along than they are telling us.
Hell, what do I know.........

If VH isn't going to be able to get a new album out by the end of the year, why don't they just release another greatest hits with the 3 new songs to tide us over?

As I said - I'm not an insider - - but I am in business. As such - I know that it isn't good business to let a franchise go too long without some type of excitement. So in even the most loosely based contract you would want to have a maximum timeline between releases.
But I agree - unless the boys are much further along then they want us to know - there is no way they will get a new material release out. As Van Halen has been pretty quiet for the last 3 years - I doubt WB would offer an extension. So IF what this guy was telling my buyer is right - we will (logically) see another greatest hits CD hit the stores.
However - in the world of Van Halen - you can never count out the "ya just don't know" factor.Winners come and go; legends are forever.

I still think we will hear some sort of concrete news about VH this fall.
